Its a 30 ton jack. I watched all 4 of his videos on building it... The acme lead screw is free floating independant of the jack, and the jack is only capable of applying pressure AWAY from the acme lead screw... So no chance of it damaging the lead screw.
The rest of the vice is built heavy enough that enough deflection to even come close to buckling the body is impossible without additional outside forces of very significant magnitude.

I polished off the week by backing into a tanker at consignee. Damaged the fender on front. Might cost $400. Depending on how charitable QC feels. Supervisor and I discussed the best design for another gate, and bigger parking lot. This place was tight. Tankers, rail cars, and a fire hydrant smack dab in the middle of the small lot. She said they’ve had lots of incidents. I’m not surprised. QC Driver was helping out, thought he was watching the back. Missed my pick up. Loads gone onto another Carrier for tomorrow pick up. Offered me a load to San Antonio. I think that’s in Texas. Extra stop in Houston. No Thanks. Going home now, get back early next week. Was trying to make another few k for the month. I’ve had enough fun for now.

I did goal, and still hit it. Red dot is the dock. One way in one way out, and it’s backwards.Lot was full of trailers, add the fire hydrant in middle of lot. Turning radius, and 285 WB.
