My last house was built by a Mason. I’m sure I mentioned it had 3 chimneys. 1 was unused, but ready for whatever. Basement fireplace, or ? The fireplace in Livingroom had a Heatilater from Bettendorf Iowa. Must have been added sometime. House was built in the 40’s and 50’s a little at a time. It had 2 small 12”x12” vents at the bottom on either side. Gravity pushed heat from them. I planned on putting small fans in each. Pretty sure the newer Heatilaters have fans. Pretty cool concept. My Step Father built his house in Louisiana in the 80s, down there they put the hvac in the attic. He built a huge fireplace, with ductwork going to each sides of the firebox. He could run his furnace fan, and distribute the fireplace heat throughout the house. It’s an ingenious set up, designed by himself, a Commercial Electrician. On another note, he also ran the heat ducting through the slab, using 4” pvc pipe. Each one placed in the center of each room. My Mom hated those holes in the middle of each room, Lol. She put drain covers on all of them. He’s lucky, never been flooded. I imagine that would be a problem. His plan came from the practice of burying large pipes underground, and circulating cool air in the old Plantation Mansions in Louisiana. He was penny wise. Built with 2x6 walls, extra insulation. Very efficient 1600 sq ft home. And a 2000 sq ft shed. Lol. My kind of place.
What if it Snows?

Maybe I should sell my Truck and Trailer too. I’ve got at least 7 or 8 good paying Local jobs around here to work for. They would need to understand I sometimes run 15 min late. Well more like always. Question is, how long till I run out of Companies to work for? My fragile ego can’t handle being fired. I’ve always quit before that happens. Amazingly it never was a problem. I always felt bad about being late, and worked that much harder. Now though, they’ll also have to understand that I work very slow. That’s a tough sell. Better stay where I can’t get fired.
