If you find yourself digging yourself into a hole, stop digging.

Would be nice, but all my pickups were built during (and geared for) the 55mph speed limit.

I mostly park in the right lane. All the fools can go around.

So we've been at the shipper for 3 hours and 11 minutes waiting on one pallet.

There's another guy here that's been waiting almost all day for Landstar to fix his trailer.

Nice guy too. Was unceremoniously canned from Mercer ( flatbed ), so now he does van here.

He's been around the block. Great conversation.

The OM said we'll not be traveling far now.

Said he personally knows ( or knew ) two people, relatively healthy, late 30's, took all three covid shots, died of covid after getting the shots.

Said his sister is an ER nurse, and the only covid patients they have in the hospital have been vaccinated.

The OM said we're definitely not getting vaccinated.

There's still a mill at Scotia, albeit much smaller than in your day. Eureka has only one sawmill still working. There's a mill in Blue Lake but for the Humboldt Bay area that's about it.
Mill closures since you ran up that way....as nearly as I can remember:
Arcata, Bracut, Fortuna, Covelo, Elk Creek, Hayfork, Happy Camp, Susanville, Loyalton, Greenville, Crescent Mills, Auburn, Camino, Ft. Bragg, Laytonville, Willets...lots more. These are mostly mills that were bought by Sierra Pacific because they came with timber land. SP would close the mills and keep the land. They built super mills at Lincoln, Quincy, and Anderson instead.
