Me and my dad looking for a company to lease on to, I have 2 years as company driver and he just got his cdl but no experience. We want to team drive. J.b hunt said they will lease me for 65%, their trailers, can use their 3rd party insurance for hopefully a good rate, fuel surcharge, etc and my dad could just company drive for 3 months and join me. Thoughts on that?
But we like the idea of a non mega carrier letting us lease on and we bang out miles. Currently I do about 2500 miles a week where I'm at (though sometimes 1800 to 2k) and home by Friday night.
We are sitting on enough cash to be prepared for any bs after buying truck.
    Any thoughts appreciated.

Most of the folks on here will tell
You to just get your own MC number

that way you get 100% instead of 65%

The problem will be your Dad having a new CDL. I would go the JB Hunt if you really want to bring your Dad on with you. You will have a very hard time finding any insurance company that will insure your Dad if you go with your own numbers or Lease on with someone.

I have heard that as well but I've also heard it comes with higher risk of failure (state filings, getting brokers to accept you etc) and then also neither of us really know good loads I only know the route I have (same 5 states or so) and don't know what it pays only the cpm I get. I have heavily considered it though just scared ig haha.

So do you think JBs 65% plus benefits is fair and will be enough to pay bills? The recruiter said drivers are making about 5500 a week gross now which may or may not be BS. I don't plan on getting a fancy truck we was looking at some decent ones around 50k which would be about 1300 or 1400 a month. Honestly I "need" about 2k a week net to support my livelihood. Wife mortgage etc does that sound like a reasonable expectation at 65%?
Also luckily he's a little mechanically inclined and will be able to keep an eye on the truck. No repairs i think but he could definitely see something I would miss and have a better sense of the trucks "health" just from driving and listening as to where I will just blast metal and set the cruise like I do now lmao

A lot of the small companies insurance requires 2 yrs experience unfortunately. Make sure you get a good truck if your going to run non stop.

    65% of what?

Don’t think about the percentage, think about your bottom line and what it costs to you.

If JB was a good place to lease onto don’t you think they would have O/O’s all over the place? I couldn’t tell you the last time I seen someone leased onto them.
