Just the added stress of it can be exhausting. They preach about distracted driving, then put a timer on your dash, that some days you're constantly worrying about.

JMO, but it seems like there are more truck wrecks since the ELD mandate. While certainly not the only factor, my belief is its contributing.

The emissions crap chokes the hell out of them. A good long 6% grade and I'm down to 6L at 25mph if we're loaded heavy. Well I shouldn't say heavy, but if we're grossing 75k+. She has some more, but when climbing I hold boost at 20 lbs and let her find her way. 630k miles with no engine problems isn't just luck.

She pulled better when she was new, but they've "updated" the software 3 times now. Each update was just them lowering the Nox, and each time she lost power. I've been contemplating getting a PDI tuner, see if we can get around these crippling low Nox tunes.

Another factor, unless it's heavy spec'd or a custom order, new trucks all come geared tall. We have 3.36 rears behind a direct 13s. Look around at the specs on new trucks, they all come from the factory with tall gears. Works well for lower weights and long highways, not so much for heavier loads and short hauls.

At least you're working and earning. Still sucks I know.

We had to go in person and stay on them all day to get it finished. We were sitting right next to her, parked on the back fence of their lot, called and dude said she was in the shop. The silence when I told him she wasn't was deafening.

We went through that a few times that day. I'd be standing right next to the truck, call and they tell me they were working on it as we speak. They finally figured out that we'd had enough of their BS and got it done.

It might all come to an end for me. I have a line on a 99 N14 for my old Russian racer.
