Picked up another completed jobsite horror show today and was rewarded by the flatbed gods with a nice gravy load of trannies for Monday. Hope you all enjoy your weekend!

(That’s the cleanest straightest legal-est load I’ve put together in awhile lol).

Also, I put my winter counterweight on... If anyone has any tips on how to do this more better ish, or ideas for a better weight source, I’d love to hear them. It’s kind of a work in progress and this is the best I’ve come up with.

Two 3/8 chains wrapped around the ends of the block and bound together on top with one binder. It’s hard to tell in pics but the chains do angle inward where they meet the trailer, so it prevents movement in all directions. Weight of the block is ~5000 lbs.

Then I kind of half arse braced it with 2x4’s nailed to the deck. I know the 2x4’s won’t do any good if I get in a wreck, but if the chains should fail while driving down the road it would at least hold the block in place well enough for me to pull over.

Winter counterweight? Man we used to just have to push the clutch in on every overpass when the roads were slick! Can’t let Safety get in the way of payload capacity!

Catch Basins is what I've known them as.

Dragged one or two around in the past to them pesky job sites.

Instead of a single binder on top you could use 2. 1 on the front and 1 on the back side of the block. I had to do something similar a few weeks ago to make a load leveler out of 4x4s.

It would keep the chains lower down from the top of the block where they go around the corners. Also puts steel crossing all the way across the front and back instead of relying on the 2x4.

His piggy back forklift pulls weight off the drives when light or empty. Not any fun in the winter at all.
