My trailer lost a wheel seal. Was strongly thinking of just replacing all 4 since if one went bad the other 3 wheel positions might not be too good either. Thoughts?

    I mean,
That's what happened with my batteries, replaced one than a month later 2 others died so replaced the other 3.
And my cab's airbags. Replaced 1, a week later another failed so just replaced the remaining 3.

With batteries you are usually better off replacing all of them as a set. Wheel seals I never did though. .

I’d wait till it’s brake shoe time. I have 2 wheel seals on my drive axles with over 2 million miles. Check the bearings good for loose cages, Might want to check end play on the others. Too much is a common cause of seal failure. Otherwise just crawl under on occasion if you’re worried about the others. With a flashlight, you can look for any seepage, catching one before it blows.

Batteries always, ALWAYS get replaced as a group.

    Wheel seals replace as needed.

I wouldn’t do wheel seals proactively. Those others could go a long time. They will develop a slow seepage usually and give plenty of notice to somebody even paying halfway attention. Personally I don’t like any trailer or truck steer hub where I can’t easily see the oil level every AM on a quick walk around.

Is it totally blown? Like dripping out and making a mess? If not, I would leave it be and keep an eye on it. Sometimes they never start leaking out even when they're wet and they'll dry back out. Even if it is leaking I would just do the ones that are leaking instead of all of them. The only time I would do all four would be if I was already doing brakes anyway. It's not much more to do the seal from that point.

Just replacing a a non leaking seal as a PM item may only cause a problem
You can always get a bad part or install and then be back to square one

Yea, it's really blown, oil spraying on the wheel. The others are just doing the seeping thing, outside of the hubs just looks damp but there's no dripping (this one was like that too until I saw the oil all over the wheel on my walk around). They've been like that for months but they've held their oil inside.

Thanks guys, I'll just do that one.
