Are the Firestone FD835 a good tire for logging trucks, hauling equipment into and out of the bush, and pulling fuel to remote locations, ie loggers, mines, ranches?

I use regular Firestones only on steer axle ( mean for steer axle ) ...last 10 years
Rideandrepair and Pamela1990 Thank this. -
I Love the Michelin XDS but they’re a soft tire and if you run your chains loose you’ll shred the tires. But in most cases where guys are chaining up you’ll walk right around them on ice bare foot.
Rideandrepair, Pamela1990 and Oxbow Thank this. -
Thanks guys.
FD835 is 20% less than Michelins I usually run, so if good was going to order 40 of them, have 5 trucks that are almost ready for new shoes.Rideandrepair, Oxbow and BigHossVolvo Thank this. -
I can't speak to that particular model, but I run FD663's. After 100k, I swear they still look exactly the same, and they give good traction. As a side note, Firestone does get a lot of praise on this site. @BigHossVolvo might have a better idea.
Rideandrepair, Oxbow, IH Truck Guy and 1 other person Thank this. -
40 of them, looks like you're going to save about 7k-8k over the Michelins!
Oxbow and Pamela1990 Thank this. -
I can’t imagine a more expensive tire than the Michelin’s for sure but they run great. Also for offroad I’ve run Sailuns and Longmarch tires and you can’t beat Aeolus tires on Heavy equipment. The Sauluns and Longmarch tires will never last as long as a good tire but they are cheap. I know guys who but them direct from China for their fleets and I think they get them for $100 (ish) a tire buying a sea container load at a time. Again, they’re a cheaper tire but if it’s getting torn up offroad why not?
Oxbow and Pamela1990 Thank this. -
Off road may as well run Chinese. You usually wreck a tire before they wear out.
Rideandrepair, D.Tibbitt, Oxbow and 2 others Thank this. -

Well in 6 months I will post a review to my own thread, 40 on order.
Need 12 steer tires, for 6 trucks next.
That will give me something to do today, the boredom is getting deep.Rideandrepair, D.Tibbitt, stuckinthemud and 2 others Thank this.
