When you sign up for prime you really expect prime to treat you as a human.
What I discovered was quite surprising.
One year was all I could take. You see, I love my wife and have no plans to replace her anytime soon or ever - not with all the mostly terrible choices out there at those truck stops and the immediate environs.
I really tried to be a prime asset and succeeded really well. But I could never come home to the wife. I am blessed with a great girl but I'm a man! I need my wife!
Before this begins to sound like the tale of a love/woman-whipped man remember that men have REAL needs that only a woman can fill. Remember the 24-7 factory with the limited-capacity warehouse? Well, that's us men.
I went local and life just seems much more normal now. For those expecting to get home regularly with prime...FORGET IT!
Prime- only newbies sing the praises 2

I am right there with you......
You are better off local and the whole OTR dream is just trumped by folks that have no choice but just to do that !!!
The trucking industry is nothing like it used to be especially now in this economy.....
The trucking industry is dependent on drivers that have no choice and do not know any better......
There is no place like home and being home with family !!!
I am in NO way downing anyone that has to do it or wants to be OTR... but to me the choice is clear !!!! -
Well good. Because some of us like a gypsy lifestyle. Now why don't you go bash a really winner of a company like...
Arrow for instance. -
Well arrow does not exist any more and prime is more evil than arrow could of ever been........
on my 23 degrees of evil prime is placed at 21 most evil and arrow was placed at 20.......
None of the arrow drivers were ever brain washed unlike the prime drivers......
Arrow never had an policy that paid drivers extra mileage pay to bring in new blood like prime.....
Arrow drivers did not have to pay for their equipment that should be supplied to drivers unlike prime......
AS FAR AS THE GYPSY LIFESTYLE .......thats cool if i was single and had no children I would be right there too but that is not the situation for me ......
I Pray that anyone that does not have a home or some where to go to besides their truck have an back up plan if their company goes under because as it was played out at Arrow it can happen any where in this economy ..... Yes even PRIME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
New Drivers ...... WATCH , LISTEN, AND LEARN FROM THESE RECENT EVENTS .........
Is trucking really a steady gig like you thought or will the company that you have been considering be the next to go under.....
1.Do Not Be Fooled by the cheerleaders in this industry get your facts by listening , watching , and asking lots of questions..... Do the Research and invest hours into it !!!!!!
2.Do not just get your information via the internet or if you have no choice just do not get all of your info from just one site !!!!!!
3.Check into safestat on any company..... If it is an trucking company or even has one truck in any company they will be on the safestat web site!!!!!
4. If anyone has been cheerleading for an company..... QUESTION it all ..... Because there is usually an under lying AGENDA that they have......
I.E. monetary...... political....... brownie points...... Robert Lowe was on here and did get kicked off for passing the bacon..... It is an matter of record and fact that any one on this site can not deny......
He still watches and so do a lot of companies and management..... so for the record there is a lot of cheerleaders for their specific companies trying to get brownie points from their head coaches......
It is also no secret that the trucker report gets hate mail from companies and they love it because the truth is getting out...... don't believe me ask any mod. or go straight to wiseone ! He will set the record straight if asked or just follow his posts they are not hard to find !
5. If it sounds too good to be true .... It is !!!!!!!!
The trucking industry has its Pro's and con's .... stricktly speeking more con's than pro's........screenman_0, notarps4me and Beechvtail Thank this. -
Well cactusjack it looks like you are doing alot more cheerleading against Prime than anyone is for them. What's this about a hidden agenda?
-
Well I don't know about you, boys and girls, but I'm bummed!
The Dark Side... aka Prime... only rates a 21 on the CactusJack 23-point evil scale. And after all the efforts by "Darth Low" to get us to the next level. Total Bummer!

I don't think there is any good OTR company. Just degrees of bad. Most all lie to and cheat and steel from the drivers. that's not a opinion it's a fact. Anyone who thinks Prime is different is delusional.
I would say that the biggest lie that Prime could tell their truck renters is that they will be able to have any life outside of driving a truck and succeed when they sign on with them. But then they have no choice because there probably is just not enough social misfits out there that want to be a hobo on wheels for them to keep the doors open without lying to the drivers.
After many years in the industry I always chuckle when I see a OTR trucking AD that says they offer freedom and care about the driver and their family.
A new person considering a OTR career must remember that it's more then just a Gypsy lifestyle. It's weeks of long hours (many unpaid) doing one of the most dangerous jobs their is.
Can a driver succeed at Prime? well I am sure their are some that do. but at what cost? Life is to short , so if you have one why waste it looking at pavement, docks and truck stops?cactusjack Thanks this. -
Yep here's the hidden agenda.
Now does everyone know which forum they are posting on?
cactusjack Thanks this. -
After 34 years in the white collar world, you're welcome to cubi-hell. You can have it. Don't forget your kneepads - you're going to need them! I'm doing quite well at Prime, and I don't spend my life looking at pavement, docks and truckstops.DirtySideDown Thanks this.

wow!!! i just read this whole thread, and find that some will do whatever it takes to get their point across. i do wonder why prime takes such a beating when it is very apparent that are many companies out there with terrible track records. it really makes me wonder why someone would apply so much negative energy towards any one company. did they get rejected or fired? i don't think anyone will ever know the motive.
DirtySideDown Thanks this.
