Well thanks for your input. At this point we are not concerned whether its a good company or not he just needs to get some training and learn the basics in the trucking industry.

he can get all the training he wants, and learn all the basics he wants. that conviction will follow him for an incredible long time. he may just end up working for a "skank" company the rest of his life. even if he were to become an owner-operator, he would need to subject himself to a background check. that company will find out as well.........and let's not forget the hazmat finger printing he may have to go through if ANY company requires he haul hazmat...........

hey, good luck, it's not my problem......

Remember a long time ago there was an old phrase that teachers and others in authority used to use..........."That will go on your permanent record" ?
It's true. Just because you paid your official debt to society doesnt mean that everything is back to being ok and all is forgotten. Not to be cruel but it's true.

well i've been hearing a lot about these skank companies. I'm Sure if my brother was able to work for 19 cents an hour while serving 4yrs in federal prison. He can endure just about any thing from these companies that have the label of being "skank". All large companies were once small.

pro1driver, i have read your posts in numerous threads. seems like you have a REAL problem with anyone who has ever broken the law.

the first example that comes to mind is where someone who smoked marijuana in the past asked about a test, or prior conviction for posession.
you told them and i quote "once a pot head always a pot head" :smt017

and this now, what is your deal buddy?

someone who has done wrong in their past is NOT NECESSARILY GONNA BE DOOMED TO A LIFE OF CRIME, UNLESS NARROW MINDED PEOPLE LIKE YOU CONTINUE TO PUT THEM DOWN
THIS SITE FROM ALL I HAVE READ SO FAR HAS BEEN FULL OF POSITIVE REINFORCMENT FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO GET INTO THIS BUSINESS AND ALL I SEE FROM YOU IS NEGATIVITY. IT IS TRULY SAD,.
TO ALL THE POSITIVE POSTERS OUT THERE I THANK YOU:smt023

Ya know I have always told everyone that I love and care about, I will always bail you out of jail/trouble ONE time so long as it has nothing to do with drinking and driving (theres no get otta jail free card for that one, its dont pass go and go to jail)....to this day I hold true to that statement, EVERYONE makes mistakes,SOME just haven't been caught yet... NOBODY is perfect, AND everyone deserves a second chance if they demonstrate that they have learned from their mistakes....it is not up to us to hold it over their heads and berate them on a daily basis. People who refuse to show a little bit of understanding and allow people to get back up on their feet should take a good look in the mirror, someday you may be dealing with the hostility and holierthanthou attitude you so freely dispense today. Does this apply to all crimes NO, but come on we arent talking about murder here.

It's a shame that the trucking school would even let him enroll. They know as well as we do that most companies wouldn't touch him. The place that I went to school would have told him out-right NO. They did full background checks before you ever started. Things have really gone down hill since 1990. They're going to let him go $3000 to $4000 in debt (Knowing he's not going to be able to find a job.) Come on this has to stop somewhere.
