And that is what the hubbub is about.

When a person perceives an injustice and does nothing then they are culpable for that injustice.

Wonder if people wanting the sentence reduced would still want it reduced if he had accidently discharged a gun and killed 4 people.

An eye for an eye is how you're wired. Many people are wired like that but I am of the mindframe that 2 wrongs don't make a right.

How do you accidentally discharge a gun? Serious question....I'm not really a 2nd amendment guy so I know nothing about guns.

The driver was a flat lander who didn't understand the perils of mountain driving,
The unit just got away from him.

Something tells me that if he was a white, English-speaking truck driver from North Dakota there wouldn't be anywhere close to 1.5 million signatures. Maybe not even a petition.

You're right because he wouldn't have got 110 years. He may have even been acquitted.

If he had been a white, English speaking guy from North Dakota he would have been able to read and understand the runaway ramp signs and the ones warning of the downgrade.

That's correct... so he would be expected to know better. That said, he still doesn't get 110 years.

    PacoTaco Thanks this.

Yes, he would have. Once the driver was found guilty the judge was bound by state law to enact that sentence.
