So you are telling us that the driver should be pardoned and probably compensated for his grief?
News flash… you are responsible for your actions. Not only should he face the consequences but also his company and who ever issued that CDL.

No, I am saying the sentence is excessive in comparison to the crime. I never said he shouldn’t face consequences, but an effective life without parole sentence is not fair consequences.

back in 2018 a driver in Canada caused a fatal crash with a bus that killed 16 people and his sentence was 8 years. Ethan Couch, the “affluenza” kid killed like 4 people from intoxicated driving and he got probation and alcohol counseling.

110 years is not a fair or just sentence given the circumstances. I can find example after example of vehicular manslaughters with sentences ranging from probation to less than ten years.

I would hate to live in a country governed by your views of justice.

One of the best ways to do the right thing in an emergency is to think carefully about it BEFORE it is an emergency. That's how aviation approaches things. Granted you cannot know beforehand exactly what every emergency situation will be and where, but you can think about the most common situations and take time to think through what you will do if that situation happens when you have some time. Also, when you have a close-call or learn about another driver's wreck or close-call then think about that situation and think of how to handle it. Don't get wrapped up with all the emotional details and all the ramifications to create the most gigantic emotional catastrophe of all time. Just think about the basics like both lanes blocked by traffic, I come over a hill and do I aim for the median or the shoulder, beside the shoulder, etc. If there is a wreck just beyond the top of that rise what do I do? Things like that.

I’m fairly certain Colorado didn’t execute people for manslaughter. As a common law offense that was never considered a capital crime

There is a lot more to this case then "driver kills 4 people gets 110 years. If you actully look through the case there were a lot of contributeing factors that pushed it from excessive to in my mind justified. Stealing a snippit i made in another post here.

This guy got his CDL in at BEST an iffy fashion, he changed his story at least a half dozen times that i know of, Tried to flee the country, KILLED 4 people injured and maimed several others, Skipped several runaway ramps that even if he cant bloody read SHOULD have been obvious of their useage, CHOSE to run into the vehicles rather then try to avoid them, took the #### hill WAY too fast, had several violations found on his #### truck, and in general did absolutely everything wrong. If it had just been one or two things then sure MAYBE 110 years is excessive and i could agree to it. But considering all the above as far as i am concerned the guy is getting EXACTLY what he deserves. The only thing i DONT agree with is that the people who employed him or gave him a CDL arent also being charged as accessories at the MINIMUM.

To add to that direct copy pasta i will also add this. Under 49 CFR 391.11 it states "Can read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records;" So either he LEGALLY passed his CDL permit and thus deminstrated that he COULD read english which if he skipped the runaway truck ramps pushes this into WILLFUL manslaughter giving the 110 year sentince OR he illegally got his CDL thus putting himself without proper qualification behind the wheel of equipment willfully and by his own actions KILLING people.

This is a case of multiple bad choices lies and crimes leading to a bad outcome. Not a judge throwing a max sentence at an "innocent man" because racist or some other ########.

Also as a lot of people think what i said is ######## let me provide a few links.

First he tried to flee the scene

Prosecutors: Truck Driver In Fatal Crash Tried To Flee Scene, Should Be Monitored

Next there are videos showing that he was driveing wrecklessly and there was NO smoke coming off his wheels indicateing he hadnt overheated his brakes thus indicateing major maintaince issues and/or willfully doing this.

What Went Wrong in Colorado's Deadly Truck Crash?

This is FURTHER supported by the company having MULTIPLE brake issues with the DOT

Company of truck driver arrested in fiery I-70 crash had multiple brake safety violations – Canon City Daily Record

And heres another he claimed he couldnt speak or read english but friends and investigations found he COULD

Can Trucker In I-70 Crash Read And Speak English? His Friends Weigh In

And there are a TON more things like this. This guy wasnt an innocent driver who did an oopsy. This guy did EVERYTHING wrong and again considering all the lies, issues and everything else. He got what he deserved.
