You should do a little more reading on who started the ideology behind Communism. His name was Karl Marx. Don't confuse race with ethnicity. Marx may have been born in Germany but his roots were buried in the Middle East. The former can be chosen while the latter cannot.
I can live in Indonesia and that may make me an, "Indonesian" on paper but my blood is 100 percent European. Are Europeans living in Japan, "Japanese"?CorsairFanboy Thanks this. -

I’m surprised something like this is such a roaring debate. The driver had the chance to negotiate and accept a plea. Instead he chose to go to trial, in which a jury found him guilty on numerous charges that run consecutively, all of which were minimum sentences. Comparing this to previous or other cases is useless since the charges are different. Though I’m sure everyone has seen folks doing just that.
This gives our industry a bad taste that, on a daily basis, doesn’t get better. Perhaps this can be used to shed light on the biggest issue with this event... the lack of understanding. Whether it be the language, the vehicle, the situation, or the willingness to care, this gentleman had no understanding of what to do.

Copied directly from the Denver Post article:
“The facts and consequences of Mr. Aguilera-Mederos’ decisions that day were extraordinary enough to support pursuing first-degree assault charges,” she said. Aguilera-Mederos refused to accept any plea offer “other than a traffic ticket,” King said, and the convictions recognize the harm caused to victims of the crash.
“My administration contemplated a significantly different outcome in this case, but Mr. Aguilera-Mederos wasn’t interested in pursuing those negotiations,” she said.

Even if you want to let emotions into an accident such as this, how can one think his sentencing isn’t just?TheLoadOut, ProfessionalNoticer and CorsairFanboy Thank this. -
In the eyes of the law it happened. There is no argument that can be made otherwise.Last edited: Dec 18, 2021

it is damaging to the justice system to have wildly varying standards for similar crimes. Especially Crimes involving no intentional violence.
Also as a personal matter I’m not a fan of the plea bargaining model which is intended to discourage people going to trial. that’s not relevant as much here. -
