Skidsteers work great for blowing snow.
To answer size. What else are you using it for? If you want to put up hay or general lifting and loader work heavier is better. I like tracks. As far as the blower goes, does your snow get hard or stay fluffy? If it gets wet and hard a blower with beaters on it works the best. If your snow gets high, get the double height models. The chute is hydraulically controlled.
Edit: I would get the biggest model you van afford. You will always find more uses for it....I guarantee it! As far as brand goes, I would go with whatever dealer is closest.
ReEdit: here is the blower stlye. Notice how it has beater bars and not the spiral. It makes getting through tough snow easy.

Cat's don't like the cold. Made lots of $$$$$ replacing DPFs on machines that owners neglected to properly winterize. If winterized as per Cat's latest service bulletin and looked after they run well in the cold.
They all have their quirks. Cat's have a top tier interior, very nice fit and finish.Flint1, Swine hauler, jamespmack and 10 others Thank this. -

Spent a couple of hours checking continuity, voltage, and swapping parts on the coolant heater to figure out that the fuse was bad. Now I have to figure out why the bunk heater won't stay running.

Thanks.
It will also occasionally move a little dirt, hay, lift a few things, but nothing very heavy, all under 2,000 lbs. Most snow isn't too wet, but spring and fall its occasionally wet and heavy.
Considering a 10 to 15 year old Caterpillar 262, its on wheels, not tracks, so will require chains.Last edited: Dec 27, 2021
