Are you allowed to have a gun in your truck?

Hopefully you never need to defend yourself or a loved one but remember while you may choose not to that you are relying on someone else to do so.

 

In the end it's up to you. Something to think about, what are the odds you're truly going to need one and be able to use it, vs getting found out and being arrested or fired? Seem to hear more about hotheads shooting someone because they wouldn't move out of the fuel island or took their parking spot than someone actually genuinely needing one. Guess depending on what types of places you go. I've only been a handful of places I didn't want to be after dark.

If you're a company driver you may have issues even if you hide it from them. What will you do with it if dispatch sends you to a military base, power plant or some other area where they put dogs on the truck? I carry everywhere I go but I don't do military or secured locations either and I'm the boss.

 

Come on you got to have a creative mind. You pull over somewhere a couple miles from the delivery point, hide your gun in an extremely well hidden spot, make your delivery, loop back around to where you had your gun and pick it back up. No I don’t carry a gun on the truck, there’s been two times since being on the road for four years that I really truly wish I had one. A few times that I wasn’t sure, but it turned out to be OK. I have no issues whatsoever with drivers who choose to carry, as #### does happen out there.

 

Unless it is a government owned facility you can carry a weapon into the grounds, does not matter if the signs say it a “secure” facility or not. The issue becomes when you are discovered to have a weapon and asked to leave, if you don’t leave immediately then you can get arrested.
I know the assumption you made was that’s “secure” facility was government owned so not looking to start a fight, just wanted to educate those that might misinterpret what that meant.

 

Notice a lot of comments of never feeling the need or only been to a few bad places. Bad things happen in good places too. Crazies and criminals may be more prevalent in bad areas, but they are anywhere and everywhere. It just comes down to a matter of being prepared for the worst…….kinda like stocking supplies on the truck for bad weather or breakdowns.

 

Sorry but no way in hell would I risk someone finding my weapon and walking off with it. Also, it's a major hassle driving around in a tractor trailer looking to stash my legal goods.

Yeah but if you have a weapon and ammo in your truck they won't question it. I carried a tactical 20 gauge pump with a folding stock in the back pocket of my passenger seat. I kept the ammo is a drawer behind the driver's seat. Most states won't have a problem if you're carrying an unloaded weapon that isn't in reach while you're driving. If you have a CCW permit, it varies by state how they will react. There are also tons of laws in CA that nobody pays attention to. This new ammo law is one of them. I buy all of my ammo in Oregon or Nevada.
