Yes, but don't get it twisted. I don't plan on leaving my job tomorrow, Next week or even next month. My plan is by June 30th or so. I've been pricing trucks and the 2022 Freightliner prices have risen from $200k to $220k and in some cases $230k..no way I'm paying that (Ironically, the 2022 Peterbilts are still $200k ..go figure right?). I'm still watching the load boards and rates carefully. As for the thicker skin, can get much thicker than the crap show I've been putting up with. They getting ready to suspend some drivers because they didn't get their covid shots yet. It's a day by day crap show.

Also the FL pricing, is because they're coming from Mexico, and the Pete is coming from Denton Texas. More borders, more taxes, also Demand. I've heard of some dealers in the US, charging 300K for new Cascadia's.

 

That's crazy. All these modern trucks are mostly full of plastic parts made in China with forced slave labor. That's a sic markup. Bet you the net cost of a Cascadia is not a dime over $50k, if that. The rest is all in duties and crap and bribes and licenses. We should fckin' riot.

 

My first Volvo 2002 VNL 64T670 with a 13 speed, purchased in dec 2001:
A money maker. Never broke down. No after treatment. Short wheelbase.
I could deliver in NY City China Town with a 48 feet dry van.
Total cost 90.000+ CAD. Plus regular maintenance.
My 2nd Volvo 2006 VNL 64T670 with a 13 speed.
Almost as good. I changed 2 EGR valves when I traded it in.
At 900Kmiles.
Total cost 120.000+ CAD. Plus regular maintenance.
My 3rd Volvo 2012 VNL 64T780, 12 speed I-shift..
EGR+DPF+DEF.
Total cost 167k+90k in repairs, so far.
The most expensive mistake of my life.
There are no more good trucks now.
The most expensive is Volvo.
Followed by Cascadia.
Followed by Peterbilt.
Here are your choices.

Back in the 90's I owned an older Pete which was a strong used truck but needed some work here and there. Best truck I ran with was a Freightliner '98 Classic with a N14 for 3 years that was serviced regularly & hadn't had any problems. Since 2010 we've driven mainly Intetnational Pro Stars (the best International has but not on my list), Volvo's & Freightliners (all day cabs) & you're right, the newer trucks with these def systems are crap and seem costly therefore I will have to figure out the best out of the worst in June regarding my purchase and price. I don't believe in used because unless I know the owner and how thry maintain the truck I wouldn't take that risk. New is my best bet.

 

This was my thought also, I wanted a New T680 or 579 back in 2018 with an X15/13 speed, but all I could get was this New Volvo 760 I currently have. It hasn't been that bad, but the warranty has paid out about 52K thus far lol.

This go around, its going to be a Next Gen T680/579 X15/13 speed or nothing.

 

The numbers being posted here for new trucks are outrageous. Have our rates gone up 25%. Nope. My rate with who I’m leased to, rather was leased to, has stayed stagnant for the past 4 years. I just sold my first brand new unit after 14 months of use, for 15% more than I paid for it. If the government wants immigrants in trucks, they can have it. My days of being used and abused, watching Winnipeg companies, and others like Charger, pay 50c/mile and have half that subsidized by the feds, are over. They call us racist, meanwhile, and wish I had saved Chargers ad I seen last year, these companies blatantly advertise for new non white drivers. Not only is the industry messed, the whole country is. All while having blackface as the PM. But people like myself are misogynistic and racist. Thailand is looking real good.

 

Better have very deep pockets. Lots O/O likely go broke because of shops My company freightliner been in dealership 6 weeks now cuz of “stability” idiot light and exhaust leak. Waiting on parts. My spare company truck just spent 3 weeks at same dealer for minor parts/repair
