When I had it I didn’t get put in the hospital but but they gave me a simple plastic breathing apparatus that worked wonders.

In the beginning, it was the unknown, and our treatments for it were kind of abysmal.

Medicine caught up to it, and we're in much better shape now.

I just wish we knew what the mechanism is that causes these sudden cytokine storms in certain patients. That stuff is deadly.

The breathing exercises simulate using that apparatus. I did them as often as I thought about it. At least a few times an hour.

I know I've read that putting patients on ventilators is like the kiss or death and only makes the lung problems worse. I wonder why the keep doing it?

My wife's hospital still does it as a last resort. But if you're going on the vent, that's generally just the last stop before you're done.

I have anecdotally heard of Southern hospitals using the vent much earlier in the treatment process. I can't easily explain to you why that is.

Yea i couldnt get a full breath and felt like i was drowing (something i have nearly done before so its an apt discription) was also hacking up a rather alarming amount of blood from a torn blood vessle. When you start hacking blood its hospital time.

I’ve been in bed since I last spoke here. After 20 so called hot showers, and while hot water running on my chest, I drank 2 bottles of water, at the same time. Vitamin c,D E, I take. I’m am so worried about my wife, she is struggling so hard, December 27, she turned 74, if I loose her, I don’t want to live.

I dont blame you. I cant imagine how rough that would be. Best thing to do is keep her hydrated. Try to get food in her broth is best or if you have access miso soup is really good for soor throats and upset stomachs and can help her rest. Otherwise just keep craming vitamins and fluids into her and do what you can to take the stress off her.
