Not to mention , their first prototype when showcased to the media in a commercial was rolled down a hill, because the technology really didnt exist at the time. The former CEO trevor milton is a nutcase who committed fraud and will be going to prison soon, hopefully for a long long time.

    here's my thing:
The industry is going another direction and is doing so sooner rather than later. They are hoping to have private fleet autonomous trucks on the road by the end of the year. Also the same with tether trucks. They are also pushing electric hard. Couple that with states that are actively banning trucks in their states within 5 years. Also consider the new emissions standards. It just don't add up. Honesty, I'm looking to try and retire from this in 5 years and just farm full time. If that isn't illegal too by then.

That is the imagery 99% of people think of when you say hydrogen.

The biggest set back is safety when refueling. Its not safe and people are stupid.

Nice! I came through WY last week and it was gorgeous, right up until elk mountain. Went down hill quick then....until Cheyenne. Then gorgeous again. Just a very unpredictable area. I'd rather take the northern route. Less traffic and easier time finding parking. Just a more laid back route. Obviously dependent on destination of course.

What I don't understand, is why noone is pursuing a middle ground, which is where imo the real opportunity would be.

The potential with electric motors is huge. Powering them is the key. Seems to me, the way to go would be a diesel powered generator and a battery pack. But I'm not an engineer, just a dummy that likes things to make sense.

Yep. But some folks go googly over something they think is new, and forget that it was tried before and there's good reason why it hasn't been tried again.

Exactly, plus I'm not aware of a manufacturer who has a comparable range to a otr class 8 diesel truck. Yet.

Because they (govt and untouchables) want to get rid of ALL carbon fueled vehicles. Some states won't even let you run your APU. California just banned the use of all small gas engines by next year.
