Kratom?

Took it for an old injury in high doses it behaves almost exactly like a narcotic.
Be careful you don’t get yourself a dui from using it

 

I take it before bed or after a streesful day. Not a daily thing for me. Thanks for the heads up though. Pills make me sick to my stomach. I take the teaspoon full on the suggested use. Certainly don't want to feel sick from it!

 

I take the red Kratom, it works wonders for helping me sleep at night. I am able to pass an FAA aviation 1st class medical with zero issues.

 

Lots of misinformation about Kratom in this thread. Brief background on me. I was a pain killer addict over 18 years ago, got on a suboxone program to quit pills and then used Kratom to get off suboxone. I have been taking kratom about 3 years now. Kratom is definitely addictive. The withdrawl can be just as bad as getting off opiates. I have been through opiate withdrawl many times so I have something to compare it to. Kratom does get you high if you take enough. For me the effects of taking too much mimic alcohol. Slurred speech, trouble with balance, confusion, I've took too much before and my body shook so much I could hardly stand up. I'm not a heavy user. I take it once in the morning and sporadically in the afternoon. You can't always judge how a dose will effect you. Sometimes you get a stronger batch. I have been trying to quit for a while now and have been having trouble. I want to change my career to a truck driver but won't until I get this under control. The withdrawl has kept me hooked. I can hardly get out of bed if I don't take it. I'm in a few Kratom addiction support groups and lots of people in the groups have claimed to fail drug tests and only take kratom. I think that is probably because you never know what you are getting with an unregulated product from 3rd world countries. It may not be the kratom making them fail but other things mixed with it. People in the groups have also reported seizures, hair loss and low testosterone. No one really knows for sure because it is an unregulated, untested product. When I first started taking it people talked about it like it was the greatest thing in the world. 100% safe. After 3 years I can tell you it was all a lie. People won't tell you the bad parts because they are afraid it will get banned. Definitely not safe to operate a truck while on it. Please think twice before getting yourself caught up in the lie.

 

Hey thanks for the info. I am a cdl driver and just had a random dot urine test and I'm pretty nervous waiting for the results. I started taking kratom a few days ago for knee pain and everything im reading says it won't show on the test. How much do u take if u don't mind me asking? I only take 1500mg a day after work. I don't see why DOT would care about it if its not a controlled substance....

I think it works on opiate receptors in the brain. I took it a handful of times. I’m surprised so many people here are using it. I didn’t know it doesn’t show on a drug test.

It just feels like a really crappy opiate that makes you dizzy and does god knows what to your body.

I remember the last time I took it about 5 years ago, I was on a train and suddenly my hearing just completely shut off, I saw colored circles and felt like I was about to pass out. I suddenly started sweating and was fine about 5 minutes later. My friend said I turned white as a ghost for a minute. Don’t take it while driving.

 

I take a really low dose for knee pain and restless leg syndrome from my knees being damaged from military, I've heard higher doses can cause what you were describing. I've heard of people taking 5+ grams at one time and they get kinda messed up on it. I think anything taken in high doses can cause adverse effects though. I can't take pain medication since its a controlled substance and I try not to take too much ibuprofen or Tylenol. I have friends that work for the same company that I do that take controlled pain killers and their doctors gave them a letter saying it's fine to take at work but I'd rather not go down that road. A friend of mine told me about kratom when I had just tried it the day before I had my random drug test so the timing was pretty funny actually. From what I'm reading everywhere through hours of research it's not going to pop positive for anything and if it does when they do the confirmation gas chromatography test it will show that it's not for whatever controlled substance it might happen to show up as. from what I'm reading could be methadone or fentanyl false positive but It does not even test for those on their five panel test anyway. I find it crazy that a lot of drivers and go home and drink half a case of beer every day and then that's totally fine per federal guidelines as long as they do not drink within a certain number of hours before returning to do to duty but natural remedies like marijuana or kratom are scrutinized most of the time. I used to smoke weed everyday since I was a teenager to relax after work and I stopped when I got my CDL. Went through a lot of insomnia and some severe depression but thats what we do to conform to federal guidelines I guess lol... as soon as I get my test results back this week I will post what happened with my test. I didn't really like the feeling that I got from the Kratom but it did relax me a little bit and ease the pain in my knees to where I got some good sleep so that was a bonus.

 

Yea I think I took around 5 gs at the time. I guess thats a high dose, most people take much less. For some reason oxycodone and other opiates don’t affect me at lower doses. A lot of people would get relief off 5 mg oxycodone but it would take me around 40 mg to even feel anything. When I broke my leg they gave me multiple doses in the ambulance and it didn’t help until the 3rd injection which still hardly stopped the pain. It was the same with my uncle, after he got surgery on his liver they gave him 4 times the dose that helps most people but it didn’t do anything at all. Weird genetics I guess.

 

I've been on high doses up to 7 grams a day and while the withdrawals are no joke, I had no trouble quitting multiple times using a fast taper method. I have to imagine that getting off of actual opiates would be much more difficult.

Also that's a lot of fiber so watch out for constipation.
