1) take a stock inventory of all your food/beverage supplies.
2) calculate how much you eat and drink per day.
3) plan on dying 24 hours after your supplies run out.

I was up near Souix Falls, SD (or maybe Minnesota? Can't remember) when I saw a guy step out from around a truck on the shoulder with no jacket on... it was like -11°. He waved at me, so I stopped.
Come to find out, he pulled over to check something real quick, hopped out without his jacket and got locked out of the truck. I took him up to the next exit with a truck stop where he could wait until someone got it unlocked for him.
That could have been deadly. -
I always call out on the radio when I see a truck in distress on a two lane but virtually never get a response.
