Provided they can get the recharge rate high enough to recover a substantial amount of energy, segments with lots of stop-and-go will be where the electrics and hybrids take over fairly quickly.

Think about it, you have a vehicle that is recouping all the energy used to accelerate, your only energy usage during the day is for steady-state and your efficiency losses plus the parasitic loads like HVAC.

I don't see them ending up being much cheaper in the long run. Imagine what the locals are going to think of the idea of the local LTL terminals putting in a dozen or more juice sucking truck chargers. I don't imagine electricity prices stay the same which will irritate the locals even more. Don't imagine truck stops will have an easy time getting zone approval to have a few dozen chargers put in to charge OTR trucks. How long do they expect these batteries to last? I can't even get my phone battery to last a year without needing to be replaced.
I just see a lot of problems that would need to ironed out to make electric trucks work, and it's an entirely unnecessary thing to do to begin with.

There are days I wish I'd never got a smartphone, of course I had the same problem with flip phones too.

Unless something changed the Tesla is a daycab that's heavier than a sleeper. Not good for anybody but local ops or those doing swap and hook single trip rounds.

You can get batteries for Samsung smart phones yet, 170 bucks and 3 hours driving and waiting around later.

    ZVar Thanks this.

I’m trying to figure out what type of power lines need to be run to the truck stop to charge 30 trucks at once.

Also Tesla isn’t going to make them cheaper than diesels. They don’t have to since the gooberment is pushing diesels out, trucking companies have no choice but to switch over.

in other words higher costs for running ETs and specialized approved technicians to fix things. Not your average parts changer.

Those equipment prices are way more than I ever plan to invest. To even try to make a comparison is too early. As they integrate the EVs all the comparisons will take shape. I wonder how many years the OP has been buying Trucks, with all inclusive warranties. First Truck? Third or fourth New Truck? Those numbers make my head hurt. Lot of things work on paper. None of this sounds realistic to me. Sounds like theory. All of it.
