Well I popped in here since I'm sitting at the Petro in Waterloo, NY. It's a little bit comforting to see that everyone is averaging below 2000/wk right now. I know this is the slow season but man...when it slows it slows! Hopefully it'll pick back up soon. I was flying a few weeks ago.
Yea that 0 Idle trick is awesome! I have so many electronics in my truck (my home on wheels) that I HAVE to run it that way! haha
They've been having me sit quite a bit too. And (I can't remember who said it now) that comment about 210 hours after so many 34's...I feel you there. I had a 34 two days ago because I stopped due to weather...now I'm getting another one waiting to get to my 1. I'm supposed to load tomorrow at 1500, but i'm going to call them at 0800 to see if they want to do it earlier. Sometimes in situations like these, it's better to be proactive. I don't think I've ever called a shipper and, if I was able to be there early, have them say no. Receivers...that's a different story. -
Well, I'm down here at Petro, McCalla Al utilizing your information regarding same. Do have one question. The Bunk heater is controlled by the panel, correct? I have tried just turning "heat" on and it will run for short time (<1 min). Right now I have it on cycle.
How do you set yours up? -
Bunk heater is controled by the control on the alarm clock.
You will see if you scroll thru options one that says heat. Turn that to on, also there will be a setting on there for theromostat. on.
The knob for hot/ cold will control the temp, start low. Never go to hot on it, or you will wake up 10 lbs lighter and 300 degrees.
It is a seperate control from the icon. You only want ICON on the engine mode, do not set the temp for it in the bunk or you will get idle time and not need the bunk heater.
On engine mode it will run for a few min then cut off. When the engine gets below 70 or the batterys get low the engine will start. That is all you want it to run. It will not power up the qualcom as long as you do not set it in the bunk on cab mode.
I have not been in a volvo in a few years now, so I cannot remember all the buttens or the order. You just have to mess with the clock settings till you figure it out.
Never leave the bunk heater on when you are driving. It is bad news.
Oh, I am at the J outside Columbus by the way. Have to head to Chicago in the morning.mikley28, jasper_truck86, biermann58 and 1 other person Thank this. -

Y'all have way to many controls. All I have for idle is control is key on or off. Bunk heater is pizza oven or penguin habitat. But I've recently learned that if you sacrifice a chicken while praying to St. Christopher then immediately after hit the heat control knob with the chicken that the temperature will be just right. The problem with this is there is a high possibility of leaving a mess of chicken blood and feathers in your sleeper. I learned that from a bull hauler while trying to get section 17 of 8532 of my supertrucker endorsement signed off.
Donnyh Thanks this. -
Just wait Boot.
They get harder.
section 5672 is when you survive a turkey flying into your windshield while you are driving 70+.
Of course, you have to be driving a truck that will do 70+ to get to that section. But that will be taken care of in section 1287.Bootlegger66 Thanks this. -
