We should never belittle ANY truckers for trying to learn more about the maneuverability of a CMV whether they have one day of experience or 100 years of experience. It just discourages people from asking questions and trying to learn.

You post makes as much sense as a Airline Pilot calling his buddies asking them when he is 20k feet up .. Hey How do you fly this thing ?
Same #### differenceHammer166, Wasted Thyme, IH Truck Guy and 1 other person Thank this. -
Pilots learn more and more about how to fly (the equivalent to the maneuverability of a CMV) planes as they go along too. That's why nobody starts out flying a 747. The law dictates that pilots start out flying small planes (usually cargo planes) and gradually pilots qualify for flying bigger and bigger planes based on their number of flight hours. It might take, say, 20,000 hours of flight time to qualify to fly a 747. Why? Because nobody knows everything about flying when they first start flying them. Same with big rigs. -
You can try to justify your ignorance all you want, but nobody is buying it. There's no excuse to be asking questions seven years and a million miles later, when looking in your mirrors for the first week would have answered all these questions.
Here's a couple other things you probably don't agree with:
1. "Sometimes your best isn't good enough."
2. "There is a such thing as a stupid question."
3. "If you don't put your job first, then you aren't putting your family first."
4. "There is a such thing as 'safe enough'".
5. "Doing 20 mph below the prevailing speed of traffic isn't excused because you have your hazards on."
6. "Taking a 30 at a busy fuel island is not okay."
And yes, this thread IS about you. It's now fourteen pages long, and it was answered on post #9. If it was asked by somebody going through CDL school, people would have answered, offered advice and encouragement. The focus is on you, because we're all pretty amazed you didn't just figure this stuff out in your first week. We see hoods get ripped off, mirrors get ripped off, and all kinds of other stupid ####, and it's literally because of drivers like you. You say you're a safe driver, but I wonder how many countless fender mirrors you've ripped off leaving a parking spot, and you never even knew it.Hammer166, Wasted Thyme, tlalokay and 2 others Thank this. -
I'm not going to take the bait of your 6 troll questions. Let's focus on tandem placement and turning radius. Let's stay on task. -
Well I for 1 am tired of these idoits using a truck stop parking lot as a Demolition Derby practice place.... I value my hood & mirrors and my trailer way to much for them to be used as a lawn dart target... and your defending those bogger eaters that can't drive a thrusty goose to water

Nobody taught me how sliding the fifth wheel forward would help tighten up the turning radius. I deduced how sliding the fifth wheel forward could help tighten up turning radius in post #128.
Just out of curiosity, have any of you ever slid the fifth wheel forward just to tighten the turning radius around an obstacle?Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Hammer166 and IH Truck Guy Thank this.

And just because you drove a million miles on your PF4 playing American Trucker in your mom's basement doesn't give you bragging rights hereHammer166, Speedy356, God prefers Diesels and 1 other person Thank this.
