Our X15 Performance series stopped burning oil when we changed over to Rotella T4. I have 6 X15s as part of our fleet. 3 were rebuilt at about 400 000km. The first two I did had all the piston ring gaps lined up within about 1inch of each other. The third one was done by third party and was told compression ring broke. All of this is on #6 cylinder.

The other three engines are still under 300,000kms.

We ran cheap oil as much as i tried to fight it and had to replace DPFs around 200-250,000 kms.I finally got Rotella and the drivers are all raving about how much quieter the engine runs, added oil pressure and stopped burning oil.

Now I have two of these engines that throw misfire codes on all six cyls. Code is based off of exhaust pressure sensor. These codes were present before and after in-frames. I updated ECM calibration on one to see if it corrected this issue, still nothing.

Anyone else seeing these codes on their X15 performance? The units are both 2021 KW T880 Tridrives.

Let me guess. Codes 1139 -1145? No need to answer. Supposedly Cummins knows about and is working on a calibration correction specifically for these codes. Luckily, does not affect engine performance. Bad news is I have been waiting for 7 months for word on a fix.

Thanks for the info, was starting to look at X-15's again, but honestly........

Glad I bought a Volvo, after I watched 2 companies go broke over these engine's (as I mentioned in previous posts). Sitting at 582 000kms, only done rockers/injectors/plungers (all under warranty), no issues otherwise. (Delo 10W30 Blend).

I wanted one of those so bad. Now I'm wondering if I haven't been spared a terrible fate.

I think we both have bro, Cummins sure isn't what it used to be. I mean we all know what happened with the ISX, the X-15 was supposed "to be different this time". They claim its suppose to be the worlds most reliable engine, with the least "touches" between major services. All I know is everyone who has one, regrets it and its bankrupting them. There is only one guy I know, with an X15E, who is having good luck with it. However, he is coming up on the magic 500 000km mark, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

My company ordered 60 new trucks last year, they're showing up now, all Paccar Power.

We have 3 X15 Productivity Series 605/2050. In what Cummins would call "severe duty", only issue we've had has been aftertreatment related due to our excessive idle times. Our services are every 20,000 miles, which is about every 6 months.

I got very good service out of my ISX. Zero engine issues. Sold truck at 735K miles, all original engine, and the kid is still running it.

Cummins rebuilt the after treatment at 650K. That was $8700. But only missed one load ever.

Always used an APU. Engine manufacture was 10 / 11. CM2250

You my friend, have some crazy luck! I don't think we ever had an ISX make 400 000kms. 99% of the ones still on the road up here, were rebuilt 300-550kms, then deleted and had a ton of updates to the fuel pumps. I don't think I've ever seen a Virgin ISX in person lol.

Fuel pump was just a matter of changing the ceramic tappets to metal ones ( before it grenaded). $156 at Cummins

I loved my ISX. I had such high hopes for the X-15.
