I know the last six of mine, need it to order the right parts from KW. R965879

I think they can pull up a build sheet and know exactly the right part.

That was the one thing I hated about being a company driver. I like to run the weekends, and most dispatch, except for one (may he RIP), couldn't get that through their heads, and I'd end up sitting during the weekend, instead of being able to take my time on a long slow Monday deliver, several states away. :) I actually preferred to reset during the week, because everybody has time to wait for a cheap haul, but on the weekend, they didn't want to take the chance and would send it. o_O

Been there, done that. When I was mechanic for a beer distributor, I had to correct the dealer that the drawing in the book, and the part it showed was right, and the part they gave me wan't that. They didn't update the system with a different part no for the upgraded part, unfortunately, upgraded or not it didn't fit the mounting or the distance it needed to be to actually stick up far enough for the wiper arm to engage it. o_O.

I like it when you can't find some part on the shelves, like say a 12v 20A 5 pin relay.

Go to the counter and ask for one and they start going through the "what make, year, model" routine.

Then you die a little inside and ask them why they don't keep stuff like that out on the floor where those of us who actually know what we're doing don't have to talk to anyone, and can just grab what we need.

Because they figure if you're that smart, you'd have ordered on Amazon/Ebay, etc and if you didn't need them to get the part, they'd be out of a job. Simple Logic. Theft of parts may be a part of it, but I think it's more like the Job Security aspect myself. :)

Time to rent a Ditch Witch type trencher and learn a new skill. It ain't hard and the gas company can tell you how deep to dig for the line and how deep for the tracer tape. If you only need 24 inches the small one can cut 100ft in a couple hours. I think they run $250 per day these days for the 24"X4" cutter and about $350 for the 48"X8" if Home Depot has them. Call BEFORE you dig!

Yup, but the best part is when, even after you show the jackwagon the actual part and go through all of their computer semantics, they say, "I'm not showing one for that make, model, year." Right genius, any idea where I got this from then?
