I'm sorry guys. I've just been slammed. I'll have to start a new thread for A&A Express as the original is bumping a dead one.

I dont have any issue with someone that goes and lease a truck and takes it to a company, only leases I think are garbage are the ones like England, Swift, and Pride, places like those, they are not no where near a good place to lease a truck! Way over priced trucks, 98% you don’t end up with the truck after paying more than it’s worth

You're bringing in 6000 a week but pouring most of it into the truck.

With diesel being over 4 dollars a gallon now, leasing a truck doesn't make much sense. A truck getting 7mpg at 4 dollars per gallon is literally spending 65 cents per mile IN FUEL ALONE.

And one major breakdown and that 6000 a week turns to zero and a huge repair bill.

No thanks. Trucks are not built well enough anymore for me to ever want to lease. I've seen the repair bills my company eats trying to keep their fleet on the road and our oldest truck is a 2019.

If you did the math on the pay stubs, his bring home of 6 k included all his lease stuff (including maint acct) but ignored fuel, fair enough, he ran about 2500 miles, so after fuel hes at 4400.

Lets say taxes are 20% of gross, tgats another 1500

Leaving him to clear 3 k a week after taxes fuel maint, etc etc on a new truck (2021)

This doesnt seem as bad as youre making it out to be. Bout 150k a year after taxes running reasonable miles

Their first choice is to hire company drivers, second lease drivers and third is owner-operators. As far as for lease purchased its important to get a good truck getting a good truck can be very difficult because many times the truck they offer is not the one you will get when you get there. They pull the oldest truck in the yard and give it to you without cleaning it or performing maintenance on it. At least that's the experience I have had with half the companies. Also, look out for the agreement you signed in the event you walk away from a bum deal, they will try to get money from you even if you haven't pulled one load for that company due to receiving a truck that is not DOT inspection ready. They are all for the most part scumbags. I'm thinking about going back to a bigger company like JB Hunt. and deal with lower pay. Most of these small companies are not locally owned and they only care about that truck being on the road making money and your comfort and being able to get a decent rest is not their concern. They are odd in a way when it comes to understanding what drivers sacrifice by living on the road. They try to ide their ways but in time it emerges. Especially toward people like myself. I'm tired of dealing with the scumbags and looking for a black-owned company that leases their trucks or has a lease program in place.

I just don’t understand why anyone would lease to be a “owner operator” and not save up and purchase one outright and be a full owner operator?

Correct me if I’m wrong, as a LO/O you are bound to the freight the company your leased to gets, right?

and that you aren't able to find your own loads on DAT or other similar boards, right?
