Who is the person in the economy deciding how many truck drivers there should be? Who is the person deciding how many apples will be grown? Who is the person deciding how many computers must be built? Who is the person deciding how many movies must be made? Before anyone can honestly announce a shortage they must know what the designated correct number of something there should be.

If I put a pony on my wish-list and I don't get one for Christmas, is there a pony shortage? If 50 million kids wants a pony for Christmas and only 100 get a pony, is there a nearly 50 million pony shortage?

I watched TV in the 1970s and 1980s. I got into trucking to pursue my real hobby of solving crimes that affect the lives of supermodel family members. I just park my rig by the front doors of a hospital or golf course and stroll around the place until I see a supermodel with teary eyes. I ask a few questions and solve her problem before my 30 minute break is completed. I just can't help myself. I can't keep talking to that monkey. I think he's a Democrat, or worse.

I'd definitely wouldn't be getting into dispatching to get rich. I see it as nice job for a semi retired person, or even an able bodied person who doesn't have a lot of debt or people to take care of and just wants something close to a desk job.

Get enough experience at some XYZ trucking company and build up the rep from there. Move onto railroads or any other place where hopefully some experience will mean as much as say a BA or BS in some random discipline.

Bottom line is that trucking, especially long haul isn’t for everyone. It’s a different way of life. And the government interventionists can’t comprehend that dirty little fact.
I don’t know what the turnover rate is exactly for the big megas like Swift or JB Hunt but I’m sure it’s over 75 percent in a year.

Kind of amazed it still exists. I'd have thought a combo of regional running and trains would've done the 48 state stuff in even further by now.
