I think chain drive might be before JR.
My paternal grandfather spent some time in a chain drive truck though. That would be around WWI era.Dale thompson, Boondock, tramm01 and 10 others Thank this. -

Same way. Torque to 200lbs. while turning, to seat the bearings. Back off 1 full turn. Torque to 50 lbs. Back off 1/2 turn. In my case in the steer, the specs say back off 1/3 of a turn. Final torque Lock nut to 250-300. I chose 280. I had some wear markings on my bearings. I should have took a picture. The ends were good. They’re not running loose. The front bearing had wear on 1/3 of the rollers, right in the middle on each. The rear bearing had less signs of wear, barely noticeable, just past the center, towards the larger part of the cage. Maybe signs of being too tight. I measured the threads years ago. 12 per inch. I’m going to keep an eye on both. Might need to start backing them off between 1/3“and 1/2”. Or maybe do the final torque to 250, instead of 280. Maybe my Uncle and I measured the threads wrong. I don’t think so, we used a gauge.DeereRunner97, Dale thompson, Boondock and 10 others Thank this.

Awesome, really glad you like it. Is that sucked up in that picture of you wearing it, or is that a little loose for casual comfort? Maybe I should have made it 2 inches longer.
What do you think of the weight and feel of the belt? I would imagine it has a completely different feel from any store bought belts you may have had previously.DeereRunner97, InTooDeep, Dale thompson and 13 others Thank this. -
Don’t show off your fancy shirts and lean figure. Thats just in bad taste. Be more humble
