So I got a question. I'm at 9300 miles on my oil. Last time I changed it at 15k and my analysis said it was good and had more life. If I don't change it now, I will prolly have 18k on it before I get back. I run delo 400. So, my question is this. If I drain 2 gal and dump in say 2 gal of new or even syn. Will that carry me safely to 18k? My train of thought on this is money for 1. The other train of thought was if I drained 2 gal it would remove some of the suspended crap in the oil and replenish the additive package. All while only being out $25 or so. Watcha think?

I called that guy and I'm sure hes thinking I was loosing it. I sent him pics and he forwarded them to the mfg. I don't know if you recall, but this is how it started the first time. Wtf, didn't even make it 1 whole day! I'm gonna keep an eye on it. I have to go back there when my rear Fenders come in, so they can put them on. Hopefully it makes it that long.....gees. I'm really starting to question my sanity now.

Ive run my c13 on delvac to 18k mile intervals for years and sample every oil change. It does use 1-2 gals of oil in 18k miles though.

Technical yes. How much? No way to know. But that means your ......dicking with it 2 days not one. So do you save anything? Idk. I wouldnt be worried about going over in times of need. I wouldnt make a habit of it. I also get worried. In fleets I've seen it happen all the time. I still sheet bricks at 1000 miles over. Can't help it.

Id wipe it off with a rag and go. Looks like it is from assembly and collecting dirt. A diff leak is wet. Thats damp. Maybe grease or oil from seal or nut. They pack the seal with grease. Hell that tiny mess could be slung loctite.

Nothing to be concerned yet. Check level and watch it.

Change the filter. Add replacement oil. Used to change filters every 10k. Depending on the filter, that could be a gallon. Switching over to a quality synthetic or a blend could also help. By changing the filters every 10k, was able to stretch out full change to 40k. Samples still came back good.
That was on a Detroit. On the Cummins only went 30k, to dirty for longer. I would suggest you start gradually, if you decide to do that. Start with a blend. Run 10k change filters, top off and run samples. Do the same at 20k and see what it does. If good, go to 30k do a full change and sample. That’s the only way you can find out.
    Your mileage may vary.

Side note. On the Detroits I used Mobil 1 at first, then over to a Phillips 66, both full synthetic.
Cummins seems to do better on Rotella, not sure why. Currently using the T-5 10-30.
