My BIL and I did 3 gun, tactical, etc. shoots. We'd show up t shirt, jeans, floppy hat and everyone else was all geared up Tommy Tactical w/ wrap around glasses & high end pieces. We cleaned house. We shot....a lot. A box of shells a month aint going to do it. That was the difference. When feeding shells is muscle memory like shifting an 18 you are getting close.
Try an adverse conditions shoot (or instruction)- "OK, your strong side arm is compromised and you have a jam- GO!!!"
Nobody will ever remember the sun glasses, tactics, gun, caliber, stance only who lived.
    Just my .02¢

    That got me thinking-
    Saturday distraction
Years ago I was on a forum for varmint hunters (gogovarmintgo) an there was a guy on there that went by "monkeyman". He was a US expat lived on a resort island, palm trees and white sand kind, his full time job was going out at night and reducing the monkey population as they are pretty bad for tourism. He used a suppressed bolt action with night optics. Got paid really well and spent most of his time with drinks that had umbrellas in them. Sounded like a pretty cool job.

Alot of those guys are way too frigging serious, which is why I stopped. When you show up and it's no longer fun.....why bother. I shot thousands of rounds a week and I would consider myself middle of the pack. Some places I would clean up, while others I just shook my head. With ammo costs and availability being what they are now..... Plus, i have yet to find primers that are available and in a price range I'm willing to pay for.

Hey @RGN , you ever goto a prs match? I shot benchrest for awhile. I was by far the youngest guy there. Everyone else was my grandparents age and they were a pretty uptight group. Prs makes those guys look like fun. Everyone there was so uptight it wasn't even funny. It was bad. Steel challenge was by far the most fun and laid back. You ever on GBO? I used to be on there alot, but it's really changed.

No, never got into benchrest or learned to ballroom dance :p I've got a nice Alan Hall BR that does a pretty good job on 'yotes, would make the serious folks sick to their stomachs to see me using it for that. Haven't been on one of those forums in years.

Yeah, BR and PRS is like a big circle jerk. Everyone shows up and unloads $30k worth of equipment and everyone else rushes over to gush over it. Then next week, repeat. Because they all had to upgrade.

The gun range is one of those “ME TIME” places where I don’t want to converse. It’s like being at the gym…just about every conversation is going to somehow be turned into some sort of big pickle contest. Hey dude I don’t want to talk to you about pickles.

I wear dark denim and grey suede pointed toe boots. I show up on the bike, blow through a few hundred rounds per gun and keep to myself. I don’t get the Tacticool people wanting to talk to me, and I do appreciate that. At the gym, the tacticool idiots’ counterpart would be the clowns who want everyone in the gym to think they’re some sort of MMA fighter.

I haven't been to a public range in a very long time. I just set up a course in the back and have at it. However, before I that, I went to the public range and hated every minute of it. Your spot on. It turns into a dick measuring contest and I want no part. Not gonna lie, its really hard for me to find like minded folks that I can talk to and get along with and because of that, I have next to no friends. Alot of acquaintances though. I used to goto a place that was kinda like a ymca. They had a gym, but that wasn't all. I used to go in the morning before work with another guy from work when I had a local gig. We would lift for about 45 min then go play racquet ball for about an hour then go sit in the sauna for a few before going to work. It was a great place to people watch. How people adapt and change themselves to their surroundings is an amusing feat.
