Once you decide you need the belt buckle, you're going to pay quadruple for everything.

It is all relative. The parts' prices themselves should be affordable for every owner. Parts are nothing...you can have them all and stash them in a closet. Overhaul kits, turbos, radiators, harnesses, ECMs...etc.
The costly are the circumstances of when and where they break and who is working to fix them.
For instance, one ECM debacle cost me once the total of 12 grand, before the truck became operational again - towing, truck rental, incompetent shop, final towing ... In hindsight, it should have cost less than 2 grand...had I had the knowledge, a spare ECM, a few wires and a solder - and did it myself. -
