I got arrested bout 10 years ago for a bad check..didn't realize it was bad and the store didn't even try and contact me. Came home from work one day and Sheriff waitn on me. But paid the fine, only in a holding cell for 30 min and was released.. I put it on my app. and made it through ok. Just don't lie about anything because the security guy that is here is ex FBI. They want to know everything that has happened since you were born, that's on criminal background.

the question I have is......still has not been answer yet......do they do the criminal background check prior of orientation, or during orientation?? In other words, once your in orientation your good unless you fail the drug screen/physical or road test.

Don't know for sure but they get you to fill out tons more of paperwork, some that was already filled out on the app online. You also have to pass permit test and not be late to any classes or they will threaten to send you home to. One guy got sent home cause he lied on his job history.

Personally, I don't have anything to worry about. I'm coming to orientation as an "A" Seat driver. The friend of mine is also an "A" seat driver coming into orientation, he is just worried about his misdomeanor warrant for writing a bad check. I guess we'll soon find out.

The initial screening done by recruiting is a preliminary look at your background to identify good prospects to survive the orientation process. Once you are in orientation, your background will be subjected to a very rigorous scrutiny. Yup... if you have something in your background, they'll find it - especially if it survived the transition from paper to computerized records in the late 80's. That's why its so important to be very truthful about your personal history. If the recruiters know about it, it can be dealt with easily.

Your online application can be disputed in court as not being a "legal record." That's why you get to redo things in your own handwriting. Quite possibly, the fella sent home may have been a victim of faulty memory - or he could have lied.

A successful lease op driver I know had a guy like that, not a reflection on 4Given. A-seat in orientation with 3-1/2 years at CRE. The lease op had been working to get the new guy let go because he was a dangerous driver. The new guy was doing 64-mph on pure ice in Oklahoma City recently, and totaled his tractor - nearly got them both killed. Just because you make it to orientation and get into a training truck doesn't mean you're necessarily home-free.

I spoke with a recruiter the other day and I've been reading this forum for a few weeks now. I've learned quite a bit... especially from U2 and Ironpony's posts (Thanks guys). I have a few questions though.

I'm looking at the company side of things, there is no way I would lease... just to preface. For all the folks driving right now, what have been your average weekly miles in the last month or so? I know the freight industry has slowed, but how likely am I to average 3000+ miles a week?

I'm thinking of ditching my apartment (after orientation) in order to save on expenses and put a little more in the bank for a while. Has anyone done this? Recommended?

I know most everyone hauls reefers; is it possible to get into the tanker side of things? Just something I've always been interested in.
