C16654D4-B82F-4E3B-8F9E-5372F525C2CD.jpeg I finished up the week with these. First load was in the dark, and I didn’t see a piece of gravel stuck to the bottom of one of them, when the operator set it down, I heard the pop. It cracked a small hole in my deck. So pissed. It’s an easy fix, just a little welding. Oh yeah, no tarp on this load either. Go figure. View attachment 402346 C16654D4-B82F-4E3B-8F9E-5372F525C2CD.jpeg

I'm no step deck guy, so I gotta ask why you loaded it like that?

I loaded like that to get the weight over the axles to scale correctly. If I ran the block all the way across, I put too much on the trailer axles, and not enough on the drivers. Also, I was climbing pretty steep slopes, and need the traction.

Right on. Just wondering. I'm no step deck guy, So I had to ask. Everyone scales differently, it's all good. I can't put anything in front of my landing gear.....ever. unless it's a lumber load. My drives get heavy real quick.

yeah thats the ####ty part about hauling rocks or blocks like that. last trailer i had must have had 20 or more holes in the deck.. if its on a pallet, just look to make sure theres no rocks on the bottom of the pallet. those little things always were the ones that got me.

you could load like that on a flatbed to. i do it when i can. i think its a little bit easier on the trailer. half the load up front half of it out back. scales the same as if putting it all in the center.. my truck runs a bit heavy on drives as well. so say we got 14 pallets of product. 6 up front 8 out back.. scales out perfect as long as it not over gross..

If something is going to take most of my deck. I just start at the landing gear and work back. Everyone is different. Alot depends on your trailer though aswell. I run a heavier built trailer than most. So, I don't leave gaps.

its true but i think me and you are right around the same empty weight at 33k. its worth a try . its easier on your trailer. because lets say the load is 40k. instead of centering 40k right in the middle. ur putting 20k up front right over the axles and 20k out back right over the axles... obviously if you have to tarp then center is the only way to go unless u wanna do more work... i was hauling 47k of mortar like that everyday. 13 pallets. 6 up front 7 back.. scaled the same as 13 in the middle but less stress on the trailer in my opinion
