Why are we so concerned with fuel prices?

Why didn’t you organize a group yourself 3 years ago? What are you doing about it now?

Rates will adjust for these diesel prices at some point as a result of risen profitability threshold for everyone but it does not mean that it will be with an immediate arithmetical effect.
The rates we have seen for the last 20 months were record high resulting in record profits and they were due to slide down.
The profits were high enough for most to absorb the higher diesel cost even at $5.5 I see today. Despite the record high diesel, the rates are still lower than they were a few weeks ago.
Simply, if someone with little overhead costs can still be left with 3-4k after fuel - e.g. per week of work, they won't stop working and will accept whatever rates are enabling that . However, those with $5k per month equipment and insurance installments won't be as comfortable giving up profits.

 

I noticed this morning that local gas stations haven’t jacked the price up yet.

 

So did I but those I saw would have been hard to get in with a big rig.

 

To save 40-50 cents per gallon I’ll find somewhere to drop my trailer long enough to top off.

 

And when your paying historic prices for every other produce you use from tires to a bar of soap and groceries that 3 or 4 k your down to won't cover you costs..

Speaking of protests, I'd like to ask one thing. Do you really think the government can effectively by rulling make diesel prices go down back to $2.5 p gal? What exactly would the rulling consist of and more importantly would that still be enough?
Elevated diesel prices in 2008 were still with Bush in office and lowering trend started in 2014 with Obama in charge. I don't want to make it political, just asking if it is not a fallacy to think that any government can have such an effective leverage?
After all, a government does not drill, transport and trade oil. I know it has means to hinder or facilitate the process but is it enough to prevent $6 per gallon?

 

Here just a thought .. there this pipeline ..( I think they called it the Keystone pipeline) it was going to let oil flow from Canada to the refineries in Ok. & Tx.
But alittle over a year some idoit shut it down 2 hrs after he had the power to do so because it was evil
Then 6 months later was on his knees begging OPEC to sell the USA more oil because our supply was tight .. Wonder why that might be ?? God help stupid people

The pipeline which was mentioned was being under construction, of course it should have helped the supply, but is there anyone knowledgeable to tell me, if that would be enough in the scope of oil prices today?
Is the United States capable of producing enough oil supply to offset elevated global oil demand?
By how much would the pipeline help?
Are the existing oil rigs at full speed now?
Are those private backyard pump jacks at full speed, or the owners are all too happy with the barrel price today?
Perhaps, all the domestic oil production business is quite content with current situation. Why would they want to trade oil for less?
