Prevailing speed here is about 85.

Not really. 100 miles would be hard, 2000 is easy.
If I pickup at 10:00 and delivery isn't until 2 days later, with 1000 miles to drive, you are not missing anything. Could run into an issue with weekly hours, but I am reefer, so I have plenty of time to sit, lol. I've come close to my 70 about twice in a year.

Presumably north and south carolina and florida then, their deathwish isnt my problem. And no its not the prevailing speed, its the speed the idiots travel at, albeit half of them. (Half the population of the area)

Better question, how do you physically feel after running slower, less or more worn out? Thats probably the thing i notice doing higher speed vs lower, less fatiguing (exceptions being nebraska etc, doing 80 mph there is pretty relaxing)

My situation is totally different, so I can understand your point of view. For my situation, not for me. I'm delivering an 11k load to Miami after lunch, that I'd have missed if I was two hours later on Tuesday.

And for those who think I'm whittlin toothpicks, I've had a buddy running with me the last 10 days.

It's a well known fact that slower is more economical.

What's not taken in to consideration is revenue lost vs. Revenue saved..

I started driving in '05. Conventional Wisdom then was 5 MPH equates to .5 MPG.

I cruise at 64ish, at or a tick below 1400 rpm, good 7.8.

Anything above 1400 trucks start to suck fuel.

Everyone’s situation is different. My outbound load last Friday had a 1pm appointment. I was empty Thursday afternoon so I asked if I could load. They were waiting for stuff to come in to finish building my load but said I could load at 8am. That bought me enough time to be able to run 65 and make my Sunday appointments in Tucson, then got my other 3 off in Phoenix on Monday, reloaded Monday and will make my 1pm in LaCrosse today. It’s been a peaceful round at 65.
