Umm that's not going to work. You get 10...you should be sleeping more than that, for a flatbedder, at least 6. Your body will start tearing you up if you don't get your beauty sleep. Sleep Apnea, and other sleep disorders. Take care of yourself, don't end up like us ol' farts.![]()

You can probably find a lot of items from on-line retailers. Some may even have the “best” or “lowest” price. Just watch for the quality. With equipment. “you get what you pay for”
Trailer dealers will have equipment, usually in stock. Over the years, I have found that Utility dealers seem to have the best prices on stuff like winch bars, straps and bungees. There is a Utility dealer in Salt Lake, out where all the truck dealers are. Have purchased a lot of items from them.cke, TooTiredToTalk, beastr123 and 2 others Thank this. -

I've had some sort of issue I've never been able to figure out with what I've always said was my bones. Someone else thought it might be nerve issues. Docs can't figure it out, so they just say fibromyalgia (probably spelled that wrong). I don't ever go to the doctors for anything and went a few times to try and figure out the pain, and nothing. All they wanted to do was put me on a pill and said if it helps then there's your answer. Pissed me off because I want to know what actually causes the pain, not just take some stupid pill which I won't because I hate taking meds, so got into an argument with my doctor, walked out, and then they just sent documents one day saying that fibromyalgia crap. Have a bad left knee from when I worked at UPS because a supervisor was throwing packages to me, and I went to catch one and fell between the two trucks while we were transferring them to my truck. Was scared to say anything because I wanted to get hired on so bad.....BIG MISTAKE. Had worse knee problems with that knee ever since then. Yeah and so on....I already have that older mentality of not liking those young rowdy loud kids over yonder. I like me peace and quiet and going on hikes not hearing someone's garbage rap music blaring. So ya need to know anymore? Haha

Well I currently cannot afford to pay back my CDL schooling, so instead of paying it back....I am enrolled for the Heavy Equipment because then I won't have to pay for either one of the programs
I start on Monday 03/21/22 and it goes until 06/07/22. I talked with my boss because they keep having issues with the loads right now, and I'm barely making any money since I have to stay local for awhile with me learning the 18 speed still. So I'm only getting about $40 to $50 a load and sometimes they only have one or two loads for me to do. I wouldn't complain normally since he gave me the opportunity to learn an 18 speed all over again on one of his trucks, but I just can't make ends meet right now, unfortunately. I know I've had people tell me to go back to reefer or a different company, BUT I want to also be one of the ones doing flatbed and driving an 18 speed not so much plastic truck
I get I should take care of myself first and not necessarily do what I want, but what I need. But yeah. I'm not the best at sticking to that plan. I'm stubborn, hard headed, and sometimes kinda dumb LOL. At least I can admit it though!
I also finally got my TWIC card. I was not thrilled. Any of y'all know how they tell you that if you don't receive within 15 business days to call and let them know otherwise you'll be charged an additional $60? Yeah well I got mine today after they already ordered me a second one, so I called to let then know and they said well your first card is deactivated so you'll just have to wait for the other one?! Government bull####! I do not understand the government's ways of thinking and doing things at all :/CAXPT, Gearjammin' Penguin and Kyle G. Thank this. -
Proper diagnosis, last I understand, is by a Rheumatologist (that's who diagnosed me), although I'm not sure if they're moving it into Neurologists as well, but the good/bad thing, is that they teach the basic diagnosis now in regular medical training. Good because people don't have to wait 12 years like I did, to figure it out, but bad because if they can't figure out the real cause they just throw that as a cover all ailment, true or not.
The 'pill' they had me on, originally, was Darvocet and Soma. Works great. Until you have to get your DOT physical done.I had to wean myself off of it, and used a combination of Chiropractic and massage therapy to help keep it under control. What's good for us, as far as we know, it's not fatal, just painful (making you feel like dying). Movement, the above things I mentioned keeps it managable. I did those things naturally which is probably why it took 12 years to find out. I found out because I was 'temporarily' fired, and after a while, I noticed I still hurt like I was working every day, something I had previously just blamed on the day's activities,...but when you do nothing, it should heal. It didn't. So if you have it, deal with it as I've outlined and see if it doesn't help you function better...that's all you can expect, if you really have it. Guess what one of the major things to improve your fibromyalgia? Sleep. That's why I get it now, whether I need it or not.
The body heals while you sleep, the deeper the better..that's one of the theories being looked at because it's a persistent issue with fibro patients.
Just FYI.
I'm sorry to hear in your follow-up that you're not doing the flatbedding now, that's tough, but if you feel you have to go elsewhere, so be it. Good Luck in your endeavors and keep in touch especially if you make it back.Kyle G. and TooTiredToTalk Thank this. -
One thing I can say is that if I lay in bed or don't move around much all day, holy heck my body hurts WAAAAAAY worse. I mean I've been in tears it hurts so bad, BUT the same can be said if I do too much physical activity (it just isn't quite as bad as when I have laid around doing nothing all day)!
I have such a hard time sleeping. I took a sleeping med for a bit that helped, but I'm not very good at keeping on schedule for meds on top of the fact that I just hate medication!
They did send me to a rheumatologist who said she couldn't find anything....they tested for I think it was some of the bone diseases which is why the ran a blood test and did a.....I don't remember which one, but I think an MRI and everything came back fine. So my regular doctor at the time decided to put me on meloxicam. I think I remember (think because this was years ago) maybe taking one and I think it kinda helped a bit, but refused to take anymore after that initial one because the whole well of it works or kind of works, then what's actually wrong doesn't matter BS mentality from the doc just made me angry.
I'd have to look up the myofascial pain syndrome. Never heard of it.
I'm still going to try and make the job work. My boss said he could have me do a run in the evenings if I'm up for it after being in school all day. He also said he was thinking of leaving the work pickup at the place I would drop the load since they wouldn't be able to unload until morning, so I wouldn't need to uncouple and he wouldn't have to couple in the morning. Really the only thing it will depend on is fuel costs to get to school.
Granted, I'm also really close to up and leaving the state. Staying with someone temporarily and it's been a very bad situation. Bad enough that I'm like so close to throwing my crap in my car and just heading out of state without having anything set up just to get away from hereNobody can't touch ya, when you're like 1,800 miles away!

@CAXPT
Just remembered the name of the sleeping med I took for a bit too....trazadone.
Then I got super paranoid with not knowing how the meds and trucking all worked, and how to know what meds you can't take. So I was like screw it because I refused to jeopardize my CDL for anything. Wouldn't give a ride to almost anyone in my car because there are so many people that do drugs that I was so scared if I got pulled over for something simple like having a light out and they wanted to check my car for anything the people would throw something under the seat or whatever and people are ##****** and don't take responsibility for their own crap, that I'd get pinned for it. 28 years with nothing on my record....I'm proud (not ####y LOL) only because you don't see that much anymore especially with my generation and younger. Pregnant at 14. Into drugs/drinking. Laziest people ever. No respect for anyone. -

Well I did my first flatbed load by myself today and today was my first day in the heavy equipment class.
Class was boring as can be. Mainly did the OSHA Construction 10 hour certification. There is a lot of math....I don't like it LOL. I was always really, really good with algebra BUT sucked big time in geometry.
I did better with shifting. Still struggling with downshifting though, but am slowly getting better with that. I can only go through a couple gears and then have to throw it in neutral and roll for a short distance, but I'm learning.
Good lord. I did a video of me shifting....upshifting was pretty smooth. Downshifting would probably make y'all veterans die! Did another video of me undoing the straps....having fun with the winch bar in that video, etc etc.
I'm pooped! Done for today ✔️Need sleep.
