I am still a newbie, I am flatbedding it now. My most interesting load so far has been a load of Honey Bees. I even had to wear a Bee suit when straping and unstrapping.
It was a pretty cool load and I enjoyed it. They had me keep the Bee suit with me, so maybe I will get another load of Bee's.mizdageeragn, TXtrucker71 and Baack Thank this. -
Mine was a load of woodchips going to a charcoal company in misery. They just loaded the entire trailer with woodchips, no packaging or pallets just stuffed with woodchips. Then had to drop the trailer at shipper in a big lift that tilted the trailer in the sky and vibrated the chips out. Trailer was such a #### mess after that load, it was hot and humid out so needless to say it was a wet nasty mess of sawdust.
TXtrucker71 and Baack Thank this. -
Hmmmm...The apiarists are supposed to do that.....
Bees are great though...DOT wants nothing to do with a bee load...... -
My company got me this bee suit and I didn't know that they would do all the strapping and unstrapping, so I just suited up and started. Then they came out and joined in.
I am still new, and I think as a woman I get helped out a lot. The other day I unloaded some twine at a farm shop, the two guys there jumped right in and helped, even with the folding and rolling up of the tarps.
After I was unloaded I called my boss, he was amazed that they jumped in like that, because he said they usually just stand around with their hands in their pockets and don't do ####.
Heck, the one guy climbed up and got my B-boards down before me and the other guy was even finished pulling off my tarps. LOL
It worked out great for me, cause the guy I am driving with was over sleeping again and I couldn't get him up. However, he isn't as much help as these guys were. We were finished and ready to leave by the time he even got his boots on. He isn't in the best of shape, so he usually needs to take a break after getting one boot on.
It is actually better for me if he just stays in the truck, cause then I usually get help, other wise, if it is he and I. I usually undo all the bungees, he helps pull the tarps and lay them out, then he takes a break while I pull the straps, then we fold and roll the tarps, by then he is done, so I finish up and roll the straps and get everything put away. depending how far the walk is, or if they come out to the truck he will sign the paper work, if it more that 25 steps then I do it. LOL
The funny thing is, he believes a woman can't handle flatbedding, just too much work for a woman. I just ignore it and think, really, you can't even put your boots on without getting winded, or walk around the truck for that matter and you think I can't handle it.
To be fair, he wouldn't get so winded if he lost some weight and cut back a pack a day on his smoking. He smokes over two packs a day, I couldn't breathe either if I did that.Working Class Patriot, RACEFAN and ghostranger5of7 Thank this. -
I hope you plan on going solo.....That other driver is just "Dead Weight"....Pardon the pun.....

When driving van my most interesting load was probably a load of airplane seats. Took it to an airport and pulled right into a hangar where they unloaded them right into the plane.
Hauling Reefer was probably a load of stints and other medical instruments.
Hauling fuel was when I took a load of high sulfur diesel up to Lake Erie and loaded a ship. I took 7500 gallons and was truck number 12 in line to help fill him up. -
I hauled an oversize load that was a washing machine that held over 1200 lb loads . It was heading to Mexico to a blue jean plant .
I also hauled a oversize prefab outhouse to a state park in Nevada.
A escalator from Illinois to the ship yard in Houston for a casino boat.
Pontoons for a boat dock in a state park in Tn.
And I am sure that there are others I just cant think of at the moment.RACEFAN and Working Class Patriot Thank this. -
Depends.
No, I mean Depends.
Most fun I've ever had going through a bugcheck.
"What you hauling driver?"
"Depends."
"Depends on WHAT driver?"
"No man, Depends! Like Pampers for old people!"
Took a second and he told me to GTFO laughing his ### off.LindaLou, Working Class Patriot, truckerdaddy24 and 2 others Thank this. -
Id have to say it was a load of shredded paper. The way they unloaded it was the interesting part.
