New truck 1 year out . Peterbilt discontinuing 389.

    I thought he was being too kind. Guy deserves a short-hood daycab Cascadia...with an 11 liter and a 7 speed.

    The Peterbilt 1.9M cabs (389's, 367, etc) got the digital dash so they are compatible with Paccar MX engines. Kenworth didn't update dash, so only can get Cummins in the 1.9M cabs (W900B, T800, etc )

    Good to know. I asked the plant sort of tour guide and my salesman and they never brought that up. Said before they were primarily 70/30 Cummins to MX at the Renton plant pre covid but now they’re primarily Cummins. He did say they’re also logistically easier on the manufacturing aspect vs having to engineer and mount gauges. But I can’t ever get behind staring at a screen, just something about having physical gauges feels better.

    He's just upset because he got routed to the closest Swift terminal for a 3 day safety meeting but he still kept his job and was able to maintain his .35 cmp pay
    Because he took 2 hoods off and knocked down a light pole at a Peelot truckstop last weekend when he was trying to back in.so now he has a hard on for hoods

    1.9M cabs used a CECU, 2.1M used a CECU and VECU combo and now use only the VECU and the latest version of multiplexing. Chillicothe is entirely 2.1M cabs, 1.9M cabs are built @ Renton and Mexico. Haven't seen digital dash in person, we have some 389's being built 3rd quarter this year.

    I do wonder if or when Paccar or any of these manufacturers will stand
    I think having no option with the steering wheel is a huge drawback for maybe a small custom fleet or an O/O. My dad’s buddy got lucky and got his W990 with physical gauges I think right before they decided to transition to the digital screen. Do you think these screens are here to stay? Apart of me is hoping they revert back to the old dashes, especially for the long hood series until they completely phase them out. At least give us the choice #### it! lol

    Well I’m hoping to get one more W9 out of them before it’s too late. I can only imagine the soul sucking of industry you older drivers have witnessed, cause as a newer guy, just seeing this transition is heart breaking.

    Having the option would be amazing, AT LEAST. But everything is about streamlining now a days, hell the reason by the Renton plant got parts shortage was because they order parts in order with build. Very few to 0 parts are stored in house. Everything is stored in a trailer in relation to the chassis from the parts manufacturer.
