That's true, but again, with no proof, it's an air tight alibi, and not worth persuing, fix the truck and on to the next disaster. 1st company I worked for in the late 70's, a Mack I drove never ran true because a previous driver fell asleep, hit a guard rail and took out the steer axle and right fuel tank. What happened? Why, a deer jumped out in front of me,,he claimed,,,the boss didn't buy it, but not much he could do, that "deer" was long gone.
First accident and it is not small..... Will they fire me?

My last truck, that I put roughly 250K miles in 3 years on before moving into the current one, had a front end that was never right even since it was brand new. The steering wheel was misaligned and it always pulled to the right.201 Thanks this.

Had a front wheel seal go. Didn’t know it. The wheel bearings got really hot. The heat blew my front steer. As mentioned on the first page, you KNOW when a steer tire blows. It’s unmistakable. OP knew nothing until he hit the rail? He didn’t blow a steer tire.God prefers Diesels, Dave_in_AZ, Siinman and 2 others Thank this.

Maybe a "blown steer" is the wrong term. A "damaged steer" may be the accurate term. I stand by that theory because of the other damage. I think his truck pulled hard to the right afterwards, and quite frankly, the guardrail may have saved his life/career. Once a steer tire goes, as y'all know, it's not a whole lot that can be done. You got to do your damndest not to put it in the ditch though. Then looking at the steer tire, it don't look like it's the best one in the world so I think it's very plausible the tire was damaged.

There's absolutely no mistaking blowing
A steer tire.
The front end drops immediately and the steering wheel
Jerks hard one way or another. -
There's two ways to blow a tire, one is almost instantly and the other is a bit more slowly.
That said the new trucks we got are garbage. The front end clunks and clanks constantly no one knows why it has me uncomfortable to the point I've been driving one of the fill ins until we find out why.
As for OP some areas of the road will jerk the wheel to one side, the shoulder being lower than the road or if they have milled the pavement. -
Your focus is on the tire. OP doesn’t recall or remember a hard pull. Therefore, the tire failing was not the cause. How do I know?
Read his words CAREFULLY.God prefers Diesels and Siinman Thank this. -
You're entitled to your interpretation

Should I ask for your permission next time?Siinman Thanks this.
