This CSA 2010 concerns me as the o/o I'm working on to drive for has pretty old, high mileage tractors for the most part. I wondering if I'm going to be driving a "ticket magnet". The way things are with DAC and CSA2010, it takes very little to be unhireable and on the outside looking in, with trucking these days.

Does the O/O have his own authority or does he have his tractors leased to a carrier ? If he has his own authority run the DOT number at Safestat and check the history and the ISS-D recommendation . DOT uses the DOT number more than the age of the truck when deciding which trucks to inspect .
Do a proper pretrip and make sure all lights are working , no grease on the wheels , etc . A truck's age isn't a problem if it's kept clean and isn't beat up .

I have a question. How do you find out how many pints you have as a carrier and as a driver? Is there a place to go for that? Or do you have to contact someone? We have several drivers that have been with us for a couple of years and I am fairly new to this company and want to check out scores and stuff.

The program doesn't go into full effect until midyear so the only scores so far are in test states

How many points can a driver get before he deemed not being able to drive because of point status?

I don't know but I'm betting most carriers will terminate driver before he reaches that point to avoid carrying his points .
We have some drivers that appear to be at that point though when they go back 2 years .

I found a post in another forum that said for a driver it is 90 points and for a carrier it is 72 points. Don't know for sure if it is correct. But we also have a couple of drivers that might not make it. They are also saying that insurance companies are going to start the cutoff at 50 to 60 points.

I have looked through dozens of posts trying to figure out how many points you can have before no driving anymore and really can't find a diffenative answer.

The insurance companies and trucking companies themselves are going to set a limit below what ever the government comes up with.

I have not heard of any limits yet, insurance and companies are keeping very closed lipped about it.

As previously noted on this thread, the point standards have not been published yet. FMCSA will publish at some future date prior to the July rollout. If you set up a "google alert" for FMCSA you will see all reports on their activity.

I sent you a pm . Although you can't pm a member until you have 50 posts you can send a pm to staff member and ask them to forward it .
    This should be helpful .
