Anyone know if the current requirements have changed? Things seem to be getting more and more complicated. I used to have a mail service in Las Vegas and that address was even allowed on my CDL. Now I live in California which has some allowance for homeless to get REAL ID. I already have REAL ID, but I'm pretty sure if I switch to the homeless option it will set off red flags somewhere in the CDL system (TSA hazmat for one).
I am again trying to live full time in the truck without any true residential address at all. I'm not sure why some in this thread have said it is expensive. It is definitely much LESS expensive: no need for car, car insurance or reg, utility bill, apt rent, garbage bill, etc). But as others have said, since 9/11, many states can identify true residential addresses vs mail services. I always thought the demand for a true residential address had something to do with the ability to deliver subpoenas, DMV notices, jury summons, etc but not sure any more.
I am willing to switch my CDL to another state once again (have used NV, FL, and KY in the past - but all prior to 9/11). I will be working for Danny Herman so not sure if they will care. When I worked for JB, I 'lived' in NV (the mail service) but they made me get a KY CDL because that was the terminal I was assigned to. At that time I was able to use a MailBoxes Etc in Louisville as my residential address and printed on my CDL. Pretty sure that is not allowed any more.
Thanks again for any current advice on this. I cannot use someone else's address (friend, parents, sibling, etc).

Escapees RV Club is one way to do that. Can get a legal address for your cdl in Florida and Texas.
Danny Herman has terminals in Texas and not sure if they hire in Florida or not.
Florida is easy and you'll get a legal address in Bushnell, Florida.MidWest_MacDaddy and Ralph4159 Thank this. -

OK, thanks. I will probably go with that one. Will update after I fully investigate.

I am reading that about SD (from "Americas Mailbox" service). I wonder if it is still current since their info seems to be from 2009:

This seems like such a stupid law. Not all truck drivers but many new drivers I’ve seen literally stroll into the terminal with a backpack and nothing else. Down and out and starting over. Many don’t have an address that’s theirs. Seems ridiculous.
