Dang, why didn't I think of that? You know, I had a GF for 12 years, she was a truck driver also, and initially, we obviously had a lot in common. As the years drifted by, and I lost interest in trucking, I found we didn't have a lot in common otherwise.

Men and women training together worked out fine in Starship Troopers. Well, except for the ones that got sliced in half.

New Prime female driver ‘terrorized’ by trainer, lawsuit claims

Werner used to allow male trainer/female trainee but those days are over. Always was up to the student if she was ok with a male trainer otherwise she could continue to weight for a slot to open with a female trainer. I think over the last year or two those weights became anywhere from months to never.
There was a Werner trainer a few years back was all set to train his granddaughter as his next and last student. The plan was for him to train his granddaughter and then team drive together for a couple years until she was an experienced driver. He was stabbed to death when his next to last student turned out to be schizophrenic. Really sad story. RIP driver.CatchUp, Another Canadian driver, Geekonthestreet and 1 other person Thank this. -
Primes problem is that they ignore harassment complaints instead of dealing with them.
Why allow anyone with harassment complaints to train women? (or train at all?)
The answer is simple, Primes values the 30,000 miles they get at training wages more than they value a safe work environment.Sirscrapntruckalot, XenonOxide, Another Canadian driver and 6 others Thank this. -
Looking back, my trainer would sometimes buckle the safety net over me when it was time for him to drive after a break. I would be half awakened but would just chuckle to myself that I was a little boy again and was being”tucked in”. It probably sounds weird but it is what it is. He was a great trainer and I still recall his advice when certain situations unfold. Nowadays, in a male/female situation, he’d probably have to stand outside while using a bullhorn to alert me I needed to wake up and buckle the net before he could drive.
Screw all that. Nowadays, Id question the sanity of both the trainer and the student in ANY male/female OTR training situation. If it was my company I’d consider that an absolute no go just for the liability alone. Id even go as far as to say a husband would be crazy to train his own wife.NightWind and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
