If you're ambitious there's good money in the oilfield at the moment.

Food service pays well since you don't mind doing a bit of labour.

Good luck it’s not easy especially if you want to make over $25 a hr and be local . i’ve been looking for months for a no Bs $27 plus local job. Here’s what i’ve found for best paying and retirement gigs

union shops UPS feeder out of concord start pay $19 a hr takes about 4 years for better pay and run

purolator union shop pay starts at $25.63 to top pay $31.75 a hr big thing i keep reading online and having a buddy who worked in the warehouse at purolator is it’s a gamble weather or not you make it to probation and get hired on full time with ups or Purolator .Big reason ive not applied ,a guy at work applied passed everything then was told by the interviewer if i don’t like you you will be gone before probation. He didn’t take the job

Martin brower/Mcdonald’s $27 plus a hour to start tops out at like $35 a hr .you will be on spare board/on call ,work weekends and holidays, waiting for a start time , taking the crappy runs and work either day or night shifts .Still a very good gig if u can wait and put a few years in .Iron Maiden works at brower

Tim hortons in guelph $27 to start same deal as martin Brower as far as working schedule and what not and it’s all power jack

Xpo needs ltl guys up to $31 a hr but 70hr weeks and long hours

Tst-CF express needs line haul terminal to terminal guys $25.90 a hr and local p& d guys and i believe union

Rosedale looking for ltl guys up to $29 a hr mon-friday

YRC ltl union again start off on spare board or on call never knowing when you will start

Frito Lays needs guys out of cambridge, chip delivery again put a few years in you will make good money

Westcan desperately needs fuel haulers and now pay up to $42 a hr

on-site fuel companies fueling up reefers, trucks or construction equipment but you will work holidays ,weekends and nights .Dz jobs 4Refuel,Roma ,browns and canada clean fuels pay $26 plus up to $32 a hr but 12-14 hr days ,weekends and holidays

look at local town or city jobs driving dump truck or garbage truck most are union

cement trucks pay good but most are seasonal some union like Innocon my trainer at kriska just went there .$27 to start up to $31 but u work by sinority so u might not work every day

Molson and Labatt need drivers and it’s drop switches or beer store power pallet jacks but i was a little shocked they only pay $25-27 a hr and union.I applied to molson no ot and i haven’t heard back once i said i need 10 plus hrs at only $25.55 a hr after 90 days

other then that i haven’t found much other then maybe vac truck

My self run nights for Kriska sun-thurs 4:30pm- 03:30/04:00pm , $23.50 a hr after 9hrs its 35.25 ot pay and i only work 10-11 hrs a day .Works out to be the same as $25.60 if i do 11 hrs a day with the ot .No stress and at times if i’m really tired or not feeling well went home no problems with dispatch .with cost of living going up all the time more per hr would be nice. My problem is i need or want a normal schedule / work balance which is the big problem with higher paying jobs

If you want a good paying job you're going to have to start at the bottom. At Brower for the first 2-3 years I had to do the #### runs and worked almost every weekend. I knew it would get better and now I'm able to choose which days I work and where I go and the $ is great. It was well worth it.

It was the ones downtown and very early in the morning. Starting at 12 or 1 AM and having to work 12 hours is not for me. I now start late morning or early afternoon. Most of our on street deliveries downtown are at night or early morning but it's just the traffic and trying to get around with a 48ft trailer down there. There's a few down there that we have a security guard go with us because we've a had a couple of our drivers assaulted. The worst is at Queen and Spadina.

That’s what i figured ,every now and then we have to deliver a mill creek furniture load to help them out .This month guys were going down to the new college or university they’re building by the lake .Apparently it’s a nightmare backing into it you have to back between a construction fence blind side and it’s tight and our company directions suck one guy got lost . they tried pulling that crap on me on a friday night and all i could find on google was city of toronto and when i asked for more info the young kid on dispatch couldn’t help me so i refused to deliver it .you can’t just stop anywhere in down town toronto with a 53 foot trailer looking for directions

The good thing with us is once you know how to get to all the stores it makes it a lot easier. There aren't that many down there. All our restaurants have a lot diagram showing how to get into every one.
