I don’t really think there’s a “bloodbath” coming. Every time this industry has growth, not long after it retracts and there are always casualties. It’s the natural cycle of any business.

What if the owner is not in any financial trouble? Us company drivers never know every single detail that goes on when it comes to the office side of things.

There will be a downturn for a while. Eventually prices will be out of reach for consumers, or their money will run out. Kind of like when the pandemic and lockdowns first hit, it was a boom for a few weeks. Then it slowed down majorly. It took time to get rolling again. You have to know that a slow down is coming. It ain't really sustainable to pay exorbitant prices on everything. There will be quite a few smaller outfits folding. The powerhouses will push on through for the most part. The only powerhouses that may fold are the ones that are one dimensional in their commodity, for example, carriers that haul for auto makers. That's not going to be profitable if folks aren't buying automobiles in waves. Carriers that are multidimensional or willing to step out of the comfort zone (preferred running lanes) will push through I think. The ones that don't evolve in any way, will perish.

How is it possible to get to the $3.50 mark just to run? I wouldn't want that kind of "business" to begin with.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

What is the small company? 5-10 trucks, 50-100?
