I wanna learn to drive a 10 speed stick.

I have a valid CDL license and Valid DOT medical card and 4 years OTR experience. Been driving automatic every day but now I wanna learn to drive stick.

Where can I rent a truck for a day or two to practice in Maryland or near Harrisburg PA?

Probably your best bet would be to find a school that will teach you on one of there trucks. From what I understand it's quite difficult to rent a tractor if your not a business or already have a business relationship with places like Penske, or Ryder. Plus most of there fleets are probably already all automatic.

Maybe try Brody transportation in Baltimore, they were a smaller outfit we used to rent tractors from years ago.

go for it. i worked at both Penske and Ryder as a shuttle driver. they simply do not rent to non-owner operators or companies...in other words no individuals.

If you have the auto only restriction you aren't legally allowed to drive the vehicle you rent except on private property. A CDL school is likely the only one that help you.

Yes I tested in manual, I know how to shift manual ..... just rusty as hell from years of driving automatics, If I start at a new company and they give me a road test (which they all do) I will be nervous grinding gears and stalling and over reving.

One day in a manual truck is all I need, the lost shifting skills will all come back.

A new company I road test with dont wanna hear none of that.

Oh, that's different, lol. This question, or it's variations get asked quite a bit by people that have never driven a manual, so I think everyone thought you fell into that category.

Now I don't have an answer for you, but this info might bring new answers to the thread from people that do have an answer.
