Wow, I figured it would be lighter than that. From what I know about them (modern engines) a few tricks can be made with a download or 2 from a computer….?

Yes, that's true. There are downloads to modify the ecu, or chip mods. There's also all the other mods that can be done, exhaust, cam, header, manifolds, supercharger, etc...

One real simple mod I've already done... the car has 'dual mode exhaust'. There are valves on two of the exhaust pipes, that close after starting, then open up based on rpm. Pull the fuse for the module and they stay open all the time for better performance and sound at lower rpms.

I'd like to get a late 60s Nova. Something with at least 450 hp at the wheels.

Handling? Ain't no corners on a 1/4 mile!

You can actually use the online equivalent of that also, nowadays. For instance, go to any website that has something that doesn't mention price, let's say, you just want ball park figure to work on. Anji's for example. Before they've given you anything you want, they've got your email, addresss, phone, so even if you don't use their recommendations, they have just started making money selling your information you gave freely in exchange for "free" quotes. I always back out of the website when those questions start popping up, but even that's not enough anymore. If you have already given an email address (I use a honeypot one to catch them) and then back out, they can see you did and automatically start spamming the email address to finish the "transaction" you started. They now have a "good" email address to sell. I just usually delete everything in the honeypot email address because it's mostly all spam anyway, without having to read any of it. :)
