Are they just sitting raw dog on the deck? I’ve always had a double 2x4 18” or so square under tank heads.

Interesting pics, you are giving me some good ideas. Only part that confuses me is figuring out the WLL requirements with a setup like that. I mean... if you have multiple straps with a WLL of xxx hooked to the one short chain with a WLL of yyy, no matter what you can’t exceed the WLL of the chain, right? Is the chain considered direct or indirect?

We recently acquired a double drop trailer with limited tie downs that will mostly be used for tall reels of conduit and god knows what else, so I’m definitely interested in learning some more creativity with securement lol.

Yeah it does get tricky, my example with the flat chain with a strap hooked to it is thought to say. It probably technically is a direct securement, therefor only getting half its WLL. I never hook more then one strap to a chain unless there’s slack like with the tall crates.

maybe post a picture on the trailer from the sides and we can brainstorm ideas.

Yep on the deck, you just need to do your securement checks and keep ‘em tight. Smaller heads sometimes ship on pallets, more stable that way.

What is a violation for "Damaged Securement System"?

I'm drawing a blank.... Anyone know?

My company sends out a weekly inspection report and a driver received that violation in Texas.

    Maybe a J-plate?

    That's possible...
I was thinking if a trailer has a built in headboard and thats damaged but the driver was including that as part of his securement versus throwing a extra strap, could that be it or no? Not sure if a headboard could even be a violation since its not required, but maybe if its part of the "system"?

Probably the only real way to know is ask the driver.
Only thing I can think of is something not permanently attached to the trailer and not the tie down itself.

It can also be a cracked weld on the trailer or even a damaged binder.

My guess would be a torn or frayed strap, or a crack in a binder or chain or maybe the trailer.
