I appreciate the info. I used Prime because it came recommended. I was told it would be a good company to gain some experience. A friend workded there for 5 years. First as a company driver. After a year, a lessee for the next 4 years as a tanker driver. He says he was treated fairly, learned a lot, and made decent money. He is now an Owner/Operator, and does very well for himself. He claims Prime made it possible for him.

I don't think it really matters where you first start. You're either ultimately headed towards ownership/authority or you're not.

Most of Prime is related to refrigerated freight and dry van. Frankly I passionately hate everything about reefer operations, especially the customers. But, Prime does seem to have the most structured and organized and thorough training program for converting 4-wheelers into a truck driver.

If you find useful info about the industry on this forum the best way to pay it forward is to NEVER PARK AT THE FUEL PUMPS and learn to back your truck into a legal parking spot. If you do those 2 things you will be ahead of about 90% of new drivers. If your trainer isn't having you back into a parking space every day he is cheating you out of the most important skill you need to succeed as a truck driver.

@jgtrucking I'm in the same situation as you were. Where did you land and how are things going?

We can help you get started.
    Where is your location?
Do you want private cdl school or trucking company cdl school?

I'm in NC. I need my cdl, but don't want to go to a driving school for 4 weeks and learn to pass the driving test, when I can join a company like Prime where they'll give me hands on experience for 2-4 weeks. I'm not thrilled about their TNT training portion, but the initial 2-4 week training sounds good to me. Thoughts?
