I would appreciate your input. I've been invited to both Prime and Knight schools. I have my CDLP, TWIC Card, and Medical. I'm ready to go. I'm in Las Vegas and Knight does have a terminal in town. I'd be in Salt Lake City if I went with Prime. Any opinions on these two companies? Thanks.

One consideration is where to park the truck when you're on home time.
Does Prime have secure parking in Las Vegas?

Not familiar enough with either to give you an opinion based on personal experience. But, wanted to point out that alot of Prime trucks are governed at 63 and are often the slowest ones on the road. Not sure if that's all Prime trucks. But, I'm a Swiftie, governed at 65mph and about the only trucks I pass with any regularity are Prime. IDK, it can be frustrating enough being governed at 65mph. I'd bet 63mph is a real pain.
    Just so you know.
Also, Swift and Knight are owned by the same folks. They are ran separately, but we do have the ability to share terminal facilities. Swift currently has a drop yard in North Las Vegas and are in the process of converting it to a regular terminal. So, if you went with Knight, you'd have a place to park in North Las Vegas. It's fairly close to the raceway there.

Given the extensive number of Knight/Swift terminal and dropyard locations--plus, the fact that you'd have at least one terminal there close to where you live--going with Knight is clearly the "no-brainer" choice, if you ask me.

One of your biggest challenges as a newer driver will be to find safe, legal & respectable parking at the end of your daily shift. With the Knight option, this will be MUCH EASIER for you, in many cases.

    Not so much, with Prime.

If you go with Prime, you will likely start off doing reefer duty.

For a beginning driver, the reefer meatgrinder is simply too much, too soon, with some of the sorriest customers in the industry.

All that--coupled with some of the slowest tractors out there.

    It's an easy choice, really.

They said they have "possible" yards where it can be dropped.

I can only speak about Knight from experience. I was there for 18 months. They treated me fairly. I have heard horror stories about newbies having to run team with lease operators at Prime for long training periods.
