Landstar is "son'ing" Owner Operators

I had an Agent once that thought I was a Landstar Truck. I corrected him. He then dropped the rate by $10. Said it was policy. No problem. 33% that’s a problem. I know 2 that do well. One has his own RGN, the other has a Conestoga. I’ve always heard Mercer’s another good Company for specialized. Outside of an occasional Automotive Load that needs to be covered, I don’t bother calling Landstar. They’re rates are too cheap, and often they’re Double Brokered. Many can’t speak English well enough to be understood. They do have some good paying Military Loads though. It’s good they allow their Drivers to book Freight. I can’t imagine how it’s worth booking though. 67% of 98% (2% for Office off the Top) last I checked. That was in 2003, maybe it’s changed. Everyone I’ve known that’s hauled Autoparts for them, don’t do any better than anyone else. In 2003 they bragged to me that their auto runs all paid $1.50 pm. to them. That’s all I needed to hear. There’s always that one or two exceptions. Same ones that get 9 mpg, and have lots of other things to brag about.

 

This is another reason Landstar is bad, and rips off drivers.

I still see people driving in their cars alone wearing masks.....sheep.

 

Just sat in another 45 minute back up in a construction zone to go 2-1/2 miles.

Uncompensated. Totally unfair.

 

Two guys that I knew that drove for the star said key is to never book a cheap load. Labeled cheap from then on. Know for a fact they made good money.
